New member of the clean shaven community. First, thanks for putting together such a good forum - tons of good information here. Now my (likely) familiar story:
I decided to shave a few months ago and started lurking here a few weeks ago. Looked around for all of the "how to" information and tips. Bought some products (head blade lotions, minus the actual blade) and an M5 razor. Was going to wait until the summer, but someone here made the great point that the color contrast is much greater in the summer. I don't get cold, so....off it comes.
No need for the motivation found on this forum - knew I was going to do it and really don't care if some are put off. My wife gave it the thumbs up - and she has great taste : ). But good job with the fence sitters.
This Saturday, went to the barber I used to patronize every two weeks to keep my number two cut in shape and asked for a number 1 all around. Went home and shaved. No cuts, but I found two or three surprise skin tags, which I'll have removed. Otherwise, my melon is surprisingly shapely. The shaving is actually something I look forward to (at least so far). Will shave every day to keep that smoooooth look.
I have a 15 person work meeting every Monday. All positive comments, some commenting that it may take them a bit to get used to it. I had one lady at work comment that it looked fantastic, and that she already could not remember me with hair. One woman came in, blushed and said she has always been in love with Yul Brenner. I may keep that one from the wife.
My little boy, 8 said nothing - makes me wonder about his investigative abilities. My little girl, 4 said "Daddy, where's your hair?" I said, "I cut it off." She said, "Oh, so you're blind?" I said no, "Bald." She later called me "BaldyPants." She can get away with that.
Nicknames so far: "Mr. Clean" "Slick" and "BaldyPants"
It is a blast so far - look forward to getting some color on the head and mastering the art of the shave.
Thanks for putting together this community.
Cheers,
Jef
