Played Alto & Tenor Sax through HS and college and piano all thru elementary and middle school. I was the only kid in our family that had either the aptitude or interest in music. When I parents moved to Vega$, they still had the piano & didn't want it anymore, so I inherited it. Now my daughter has taken up the interest. She's actually quite good and has inspired me to get out some old sheet music to test my memory. It's been a lot of fun to watch.

She also has gotten into guitar. Santa Schro got her a full sized Yamaha acoustic. I decided that we'd have a friend of ours, Terri Hendrix, autograph it (for those of you that don't know her music, check her out, phenomenal talent www.terrihendrix.com ). Anyway, I shipped it down to her in San Marcos, TX, she autographed it and sent it back. When Nicole got up and came down stairs and saw the guitar, she was amazed and I had to explain to her the pull that Terri has with Santa.

I'm a percussionist... my current gig set up consists of:

14" Ashiko (for bass) African - Custom build.
10" Batajon (wooden headed Ashiko) - Custom build.
10" Dumbek - Egyptian.
10" Darbukka (w/tamborine built in) - Turkish.
14"x7" Bodhran (w/kangaroo skin head), irish - Custom build.
14"x7" Bodhran (W/goat skin head & black walnut frame), irish - Custom build.
Bones - 4 pair of actual bone & 6 pair of various hard woods.
Spoons - 6 or 7 random metal spoons, and 1 pair of wooden spoons.
Washboard - nothing fancy, yard sale special.
Zildjan tamborine.

I generally play hand drums with my hands (duh), But I keep a nice pair of nylon brushes for effect sometimes.

Band geek here too!  I played the trombone in middle, high school, and college.  I have been a guitar player for 26 years and I am currently play a Fender Squier Stagemaster, Peavey amp, and Boss effects.  It all started after watching " The Buddy Holly Story " on tv when I was a kid.

Funny you should mention movies, I started playn' after watching Crossroads.  and can't bear to part with any that I buy.  Current inventory
- Washburn HOB electric - throw around guitar.
- 2 x Gibson les pauls - one sunburst, one blk
- 1 fender telecaster
- 1 Takimini 12 string acoustic
- 1 Gibson BB king, Lucille (my Personal Favorite) blk

Can you say brady bunch family.  My wife hates it when we try to play together.  She also hates the fact that there are so many guitars "cluttering up" our living room.  Both my daughter and I play on Peavy amps running through a DigiTech GNX3000 guitar workstation.

My playing style depends alot on my mood.  Angry = Metal electric etc.  Lately I've been hooked on Jazz and Blues.

I mostly use a older Fender P bass that was gave to me by my uncle he says its from the 60s but the serial number is not all there anymore so I don't know.  I use a Ampeg SVT-810E with Ampeg B-4R Amp Head. I worked all last summer for it. My mother says its to loud and a waste of money but I love it.

First guitar was an American Standard Fender Strat.  When I turned 16 I got a Gibson Les Paul Standard instead of a car.  Marshall mini stack for an amp.  Later I got a mid priced Takamine acoustic/electric to play around the house.  Sold the Les Paul to the guitar player from Jackyl (they are from nearby) a few years back.  Still have the Strat and the Tak.

One more drummer.  You really can't have too many. 

I started in 1968, in a small Texas town, with some really fine musicians.  Played every at the YMCA every weekend starting off, every school dance, then migrated to bars, clubs and every other payin job after that.  We played rock until the Country thing hit big time, so I switched.  We were the bar band for a BYOB place that packed 1000 people in every Saturday night.  Thats were I met my wife.

Also like Robmeister, I retired about 10 years ago and started playing in Church.  Still miss the band camaraderie.

I have an 20 year old set of black Pearls and some really old Zildjans that just get better with age.

We MUST put a band together for our next reunion!!!!

Currently, in the office, I have a Peavey Max 126 mini-bass amp, connected to a Behringer GE-7 eq that I use as a booster/distortion pedal.  Still playing my first 'lectric: Maple fretboard, Squier Strat, that I've modified heavily with Kent Armstrong "Hot Rails" and "Motherbucker" in the bridge, Locking Tuners and Hipshot Tremsetter.  Jazz to Death Metal and everything in between, though nothing very good
