Conair Cleanhead

As I mentioned a few days ago, I ordered a Conair Cleanhead electric shaver.  My scalp has been doing a lot better since I switched shaving creams, but I've found that it does better still if I avoid using the blade on the problem areas.  So for the time being, I've decided to just use an electric on top of dome and the Fusion on the sides and back where the hair is still dense.

The Cleanhead came a few days ago and I've used it a few times.  It contours nicely to the head, and the rollers help it to glide along without irritating the skin.  I'm finding that I'm actually getting a better shave on top than with the blade. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but as my hair has become finer, more sparse and slower-growing, it's been more difficult for the blade to grab hold of it all and provide a really close shave.  The Cleanhead lets me go over the stubborn spots repeatedly without having to worry about causing skin problems.

Today was the second time I decided to use the Conair to shave my entire head, instead of just the top.   The angled foils contour nicely to the sides of the head, just above the ears, just as it does along the curves on top of the skull.  It gives a surprisngly close shave; my head was as smooth as if I'd used the blade -- except for a couple of stubborn areas that are difficult to get smooth even with the blade.  The catch is, that while it does provide a nice, smooth shave, it is not as long-lasting as a blade shave.   The first time I used it, I started getting sandpapery a few hours earlier than I usually do. It's still too early to tell what's going to happen today.

All in all, this is a decent product that does what it says it will do.  I don't think I'll use it on the entire dome every day, but it's a handy thing to have on those days when you oversleep and have to cut your normal morning routine short.  It can be thrown into a briefcase so you can slip into the men's room at some point during the day and clean up your dome, instead of feeling disheveled all day.  

This product is cordless and rechargeable and comes with a few different attachments for leaving different stubble lengths -- which I will never use.  I could not find it in my local Target.  I got it through a third-party vendor on Amazon and paid $25.48 for it, including shipping.  I've seen it listed on Amazon for as much as $72 -- don't pay that much for it.  There are a couple of listings for it currently on Amazon with incorrect artwork, but the product description is correct and it is the right device.

I'm thinking that this is still too much of a niche market for something like this to get a lot of shelf space in the big box stores.

I just got mine but have not tried it yet. They could sell s many of these f they would put it into Targets. I hear some Walmarts have it though.

Been eying them for a while, and definitely want one for those "I'm too damn tired to use a blade" mornings!

I have seen them in some of the large pharmacy chain-stores (CVS, Rite-Aid, Walgreens), at a very reasonable price (~$40 at the time).

It can also come in handy if you cut yourself or sustain an injury on your dome and can't shave that spot with a blade.

I have a phillips norelco cordless rechargable.  It's ok, but still leaves me a bit scruffy, especially in the thicker stubborn areas.  I use it rarely, more often on the face than the head, because I don't care if my face shave is as smooth. 
From your review the Cleanhead sounded a bit better.

I saw it in STOP and SHOP today and almost bought it  - - -Two weeks ago  I cut my dome a little and for three days I put my finger over the cut so not to make it worse  - - -I shave early so  -I clean up my dome later in the day so it is smooth when I go out for dinner  - - -I think this Conair product could be good for me when I clean up my dome later in the day  - - -Conair HG 300 is the one I saw
