Here we go again!
« on: December 25, 2009, 11:43:58 PM »
Mery x mas to everyone first!

Two things:

#1 my mom does not stop speaking about my hair cut (bald) and she even told me she bought some "natural" products to prevent hair loss....I then replied that I wasn ot interested at all!

#2. I had an online conversation with my friend saying to him that I plan to shave with a razor in the future and bla blab bal. According to him, people who do that (like most of us) do not accept their baldness and try to hide it by cuting their hair the shorter they can!

What do you guys think about that!?

Cheers

1: Not everyone in my family like me going ahead with the shave but nobody is trying to give me a 'cure' or 'remedy' I'm not sure I would appreciate it if they did

and

2: I think that is ridiculous, I think people with hair are trying to hide their embarrassment about not being able to look this good bald with more hair haha, I'm kidding but in all seriousness, it's not because I can't accept it, it's because I like it real smooth and so do most of the girls I know, so that is two real good reasons for me! haha

Like the old pop song says:
"You know you can't please everyone so
you got to please yourself."
Clearly, the people you are dealing with in this situation don't really care one bit about what makes you happy.....they care only about what makes them feel happy.
I suggest you do the same.

If you stick to the shaving your mom will see you're serious about it and will probably get used to it.

#2 is so illogical it hurts. How can one cover up baldness with baldness? It's exactly the opposite: By accepting your body is simply changing it's appearance as it is meant to be you get the freedom to style it the way you want.

When people ask me why I shave my head I say I tried it because of MPB but then I discovered that it is my style.

#1) Your Mom is shocked by your new appearance and is only doing what Moms do..... trying to help. Even if it is a little misguided.

#2) Your friend is an uninformed and misguided jack-ass. It's that simple.

Your Mother is like so many others.  Personally, I think it's an inability to accept the simple fact that you're not their little boy any more, and won't ever be again.  She's not acknowledging that you are an adult, and you will make your own choices.  As with wives, does your Mother ask you if she can get her hair cut and styled differently?  Of course not.  And you don't have to ask her either.  She's got to come around to at least acknowledge it as your right as an adult, even if she doesn't like it.  Also, your advancing mpb is a "clock" ticking away, she doesn't necessarily accept the fact that she too is getting older.

Now that so called "friend!"  How many sly guys does he actually know?  How can he make such a blanket statement unless he has known or studied accurate data?  I doubt that he's done any such thing.  He's running his mouth and for no possible logical reason.  If he's your friend he'll support you, if not you'll meet better friends--and compared to what you've told us about this guy, better friends won't have to be that much better.

well, I made it thru my mom's side of the family ok yesterday... mostly questions, but my grandma did tell me to grow my hair right before I left.
but to that I said, and to your #2... I like being bald and I like shaving my head...simple as that.

Good Good comments,

I think that even though being completely shaved suits me well, the hardest part is (will be) for people to see it when school starts back again and hear some comments. In my case, I think it will take 10 good comments to "erase" one negative one!!!!!

As for the friend, he is not a "good one" lol!

I guess I am just waiting for that god damn HEADBLADE to arrive at my place so I can completely shave!

I will keep you guys informed I guess!

My whole family loves it.  They know I love it and they support me 100%.  It's easy considering my entire male side of the family is basically bald or balding.  I guess I'm lucky to have that.  Just be positive.  I know it's family but stay confident and do this for yourself.
