Shaving my head...again
« on: December 21, 2009, 05:32:06 PM »
A little question for you guys. I use to be all bald. I am  22 now. I was 20/21 when I shaved...Went from a 0 clip on electric shaver  to shaving against the grain with my blade. During spring and summer I let my hair grow back. Just recently I got cut with 3" on side and probually 5/8 on top. Not long enought to style it.

But enough with that. When spring comes im shaving it all off, again. Now the thing I been woundering. Im a natural blonde. But I always dye it black or darkest brown. Is there a difference when a blond  guy shaves his head with a 0 clip, opposed to a black haired man. Because no matter how much I dye it, the roots always are my natural color. Actualy, the hair deeper than the routes!

Sorry if I was confusing. But I envy a black haired man when he shaves it and that stubble look comes dark while a blond hair mans hair stuble isnt dark. Cant do anything about it...

Dark haired guy generally don't like the shadow their dark hair leaves after shaving.  I would think being blonde would be preferable!    I'd stop dying a couple weeks before the shave myself.  O0

Count your lucky stars not to have a shadow!  I'm green with envy

Awl, come on guys!  I don't like my shadow either but I can feel for this guy!  It reminds me how I hate it when some guy with a badass 5:00 shadow mentions how much they hate their thick beard!  I think in the female world this would be like an A cup hearing a Double-D cup mentioning they're having breast reduction surgery!

As to jc71corvette, I don't think there's anything you can do if you want the shadow effect because that color comes from the hair that remains below skin level after a shave.  I don't think there's anything you can do to change that color because it probably isn't possible to dye it.

If you want an actual shadow the only thing you could do would be to color the skin with a tattoo, and there are places that will actually give you a tattoo to simulate the shadow.   I think it works by putting thousands of tiny dark dots into the skin.  There's actually a thread or two on this site that discusses this.

But on the plus side nearly all (if not all) men lose this shadow over time anyway because the hair eventually turns gray.
You don't know me, but I know you.

I have dark blond hair and after about a day without shaving I can see a alot of stubble which is kind of dark in colour (I think my hair gets lighter as it gets longer and has soaked in a bit more sun). Even I still have somewhat of a shadow though its extremely subtle immediately after shaving. I would have thought that buzzing with no guard would still give you enough of a stubbly look with blonde hair. If not, then I say just go with it, I am happy with as little of a shadow as I can get and I am sure many on here would prefer to have less of a shadow.

I still think this  whole tattoo hair stuff is stupid, its pretty permanent and mostly looks silly.

It's crazy that we sometimes want exactly what we cannot get.
Seems like you have to decide what you like more, the stubble look or the sly feeling.
Or you keep changing from time to time. It's up to you.

I have dark brown hair and I can come out of the shower completely slick and look like I've only buzzed with no guard.  Just one of those things I guess.

Thanks guys.

Yeah when I shaved it all off, I did get that dark shadow after 2 days of no shave.
Then when I buzzed it off, it was darker then the stuble you get from shaving with razor.

God, I wish I had that video of me singing when I buzzed with no gaurd.
