ONE YEAR ON - AND LOVING IT
« on: December 10, 2009, 08:32:41 PM »
It is now a litle over a year since I glanced in the mirror, put on the shave gel, and with much trepidation made the first pass with a Mach III razor.  Wold I go back to what hair I had - NO WAY.

Since it is a bit over a year I thought I should write a little about my experience during this time.  Firstly, my approach to shaving.  I have tried all sorts of things, many using advice from fellow slys.  Now, I have found what works for me and it is much simplified over many approaches I have tried.  I simply use a Fusion razor and one of three shave gels depending on what I have.  Mostly I use the Fusion shave gel, but I also use King of Shaves and a shave gel made here in Australia.  The latter is the best but I find it hard to buy and it is a bit expensive.  Sometimes I use a scrub before the shave but I don't find it makes any difference.  I shave twice, both times against the grain.  I have foun, for me, shaving with the grain is a waste of time.  After the shave I use Head Lube Matte.  Although I like some guys look with gloss I do not like it for me.

There have been a few days over the year that I have not shaved the ole head and I hate it.  Can't wait to get to the razor to get rid of the excess hair!  Over the year I have not had one bad comment but have had several positive ones.

While I think it great to be bald I do recognise that it does not suit all guys, just like any hair, or no hair, cut  I also don't agree that a man can just shave his head and not be concerned about the reactions from his family.  Life is a two way street and there are many times we all have to compromise.

Lastly I would like to say thanks to all the guys that contribute.  I enjoy reading the posts.  To all, a Very Merry Christamas.

Congrats on the one year, sounds like it worked very well.  Have a great holiday season.  Damn, you're in the warm part of the year--just realized, while we're enduring cold and sometimes even having to cover the domes--enjoy the sun.

Merry Christmas to you too Ken!  Congrats on a year of being Sly!!!
