Dodger,

You say you work in the supply chain field.  So I am thinking that is a pretty blue collar job.  I would think that you would fit right in if you shaved your head.  It is natural to be nervous.   My co-workers questioned me initially.  But one time when I grew hair back, it was apparent that the top and back were getting thin.  So that cemented my decision to make shaved my main look.  But in my case, my dad (now deceased) and my stepmother did not like the shaved look.  But in the long run, you need to do what makes you comfortable.  I am naturally a people pleaser.  But I did not like the thinning look on me.  In most cases, when people get used to seeing you with no hair, they will quit making it a subject of conversation.  So if you already have the blessings of your family, I would say that the major battle is over!  So shave it my friend!  Enjoy the freedom!

One issue you bring up, age--60!  Some say it's the new 40!  I held on to a combover for at least 12-15 years longer than I should have--cleaned up at 62.
Now, you're still young since you say you're interested in sports and activities.  W/o a picture it's hard to say, but almost everyone I've ever seen transform from thinning bald to sly looks younger--most of the more "mature" guys here, including myself, can attest to the fact people all say a guy looks younger--NICE. Rugs are rugs--everyone knows you wear it--it's a fact.  Getting rid of it will save you money & because of the economy we're probably going to have to work a little longer than we may have planned, you won't get your full SS benefits until 66 and the best return until you're 70.  So adopting a style that emphasized your physical condition, and Sly does that, is to your economic benefit.  $$$ talks, rugs don't.  Think about the economic benefits--then experience the freedom.  Shave it, sooner rather than later, you're missing the rush of Sly.

Hey Dodger,
I think you will only earn respect from your colleagues for ditching the rug and being real. I do understand the desire to conceal natures processes, but baldness is part of the healthy journey of life.  If I had a choice I would still opt for nature to take it's course and I'm happy to go along for the ride. Enjoy your decision.
