« on: November 30, 2009, 06:56:15 PM »
we were at wal-mart a little earlier and saw something that blew my mind. this guy walks by pushing a buggy with a 42" flat screen in it. looks normal right? well, about a minute later he comes back by with two guys holding his hands up behind his back, taking him towards the back of the store. dude tried to steal the tv!!! all i could do was laugh. i mean, really? did he think he could actually get away with it? duh.

anyone else see anybody doing really stupid stuff while shopping? tell us your story!

There was a guy in the local news here last week who was visiting all the local supermarkets and filling up his cart with turkeys and then running off with them without paying.  I'm not sure how he pulled it off; it would take some time to load a cartful of turkeys into a car and how far can you get if you're trying to run and push the cart at the same time?

I use to work in a grocery store and this lady ..eery freakin time would come in with her kids.  She would get up to the register and place up on the belt..with her reg groceries..a banana peel.  She would inform us that her daughter got hungry.  Now how the hell are you suppose to pay for an already eaten banana?  I just got to the point here I would charge her $1 on produce.  I know it sounds expensive for one banana..but oh well.  She always paid.

but on the shop lifter side of it all...I have seen it all folks.  Work in retail for a bit and you will get your eyes opened.  had this one lady who tried to steal a ham one time.  She had some kind of contraption underneath her dress.  This lady was huge though...but she tried putting the ham in between her legs. I guess she had a pair of panty hose or something in there to hold it.  We observed her doing this from the meat department window....the one way glass stuff.  We were not allowed to stop a person until they actually left the store, but you had better made sure you kept your eeys on them because if you stopped them outside and they had secretly put the stuff back...you could get into trouble.  Alot of times they would say..well i ut it back on a shelf..I would have them come back in and show me where they put it.  9 times out of 10 they still had it on their person.  The lady with the ham thugh...it fell out before she could get up front..so she gave up

Okay, maybe I shouldn't say anything about Louisiana to add to the laughter--except this morning they're not laughing in Boston are they??? Who Dat?????
Anyway, we stayed at our home during Katrina, and Tuesday after the storm I was sitting on the front porch trying to keep cool when I saw a group of about 10 people and maybe 15 shopping carts loaded w/ TV's clothes, everything electric, moving up the side street--they must have been part of the looting at stores--they were headed into an area that would soon flood, and no hope of electricity for a month or more.  Dumb and dumber--I wonder if they wound up on the expressway or at the Convention Center waiting for someone to drag them out of the water???  Wednesday, when the flooding caused the water to stop running, we locked up securely and headed out.  That's when we really saw the crowds emptying the stores--unbelieveable.  I was worried about our house--but no one ever entered while we were evacuated in Austin.  We were the lucky ones.

Funny thing is, there are a lot of people from California on the People of Walmart website.

Those in glass houses .................

A buddy of mine works as "Inventory Security" for Home Depot. He dresses in plain clothes and walks around the store looking for people who might be trying to steal stuff. He was telling me that he had to tackle a guy trying to run out of the store with an armful of power tools.

Crazy people man.

I had a couple of friends in high school/college that were plain clothes security for Sears.  They would always tell us stories about the things people would try to steal from there, like lawn mowers.
