Having problems staying sly
« on: November 26, 2009, 11:10:46 PM »
I like the fact of having a shaved head , but there is issues that I am having with it
1# It seems like it grows back fast ( I still have all my hair naturally, and it is thick)
2# When I shave it seems like I miss spots , have stubble after words when I think that Shaved it all down smooth, only to realize that there is rough stubble like hair still there. In which I try shaving more , only to eventually cut myself  and have still have the
roughness to it .
3# reaching the back of my head is a pain in the butt !!

I use a M3 razor and I try using all kinds of shaving creams and tonics. I read the posts on here and try different tricks. Is there any way to help me ? I need to figure out how to stay sly.
I been on here before with the same questions , but I am about to just let it grow back because it seems like I can never get the  smoothness or shine that I am looking for.
  Any suggestions ????

Practice!  It will take a good 30 to 60 days to get your routine really down.  If you're not shaving against the grain, then you'll never get a lasting shave and will have stubble fairly soon after shaving.

You have to make two passes to get a great shave.... one with the grain and one against the grain. PRACTICE!!

You need a Headblade and some practice. Go first with and then against the grain and no presure at all.

Best wishes.

As the guys have said practice, you will learn your scalp and develop the best technique for cleaning it up.  One other thing, if possible, don't shave right after getting up.  Wait about 30-45 minutes, then shower and shave and make sure you get the scalp really well soaked.

Wait about 30-45 minutes.

Thats a trick I learned quite early on. I tend to try and wait the full hour before shaving as I never get a good lasting shave otherwise. I now tend to make it the last thing I do before leaving home in the morning rather than than one of the first things after getting up.

Also, there is medical fact to back that up as well... I believe someone posted the study in here somewhere quite some time ago.  I'll dig around to see if I can find the topic...

But in the mean time, you can do a little self-research... wake up and rub your head... wait an hour and rub it again... noticeable difference!

I've mentioned this before, but I think shaving the back of the head is where the Headblade really shines (no pun intended). It's very easy to get a close & effective shave.

Good luck!

I agree with Shro, simply put if you can rub your head with your hand you can use a HeadBlade! It takes away the awkwardnes of trying to use a standard handled razor to try to shave the back your head. Just make sure as already stated "do NOT apply any pressure to the blade" just let the razor do its job.

Also, it does take some practice!!

Use bald guys shave gel applied with a shaving brush "preloaded" with shaving soap or headslick. The brush helps stand the stubble up and makes for a closer shave. It works! O0

During the day most people spend that time with their feet at the bottom and their head elevated.  This causes fluids to settle in the lower part of your body.  This is why you're supposed to elevate injured body parts and why your feet are large in the afternoon.  The head is the victim in this.

Overnight fluid distribution balances out so your head puffs up a bit.  If you shave immediately in the AM, then as the fluids settle, the skin sinks and the stubble sticks out more.  If you wait longer in the AM then your head will have less fluid and will retract less.
You don't know me, but I know you.
