Ohhhhhhhh, da Bears.
« on: November 23, 2009, 05:20:18 PM »
Brothers, I am in need of some assistance. I am a Bears fan since as far back as I can remember. Aside from Jim McMahon who was more a pure leader, behind whom the Bears would have happily marched into hell, than a pure quarterback the Bears now have Jay Cutler.
When I heard he was leaving the Donkeys I thought to myself, if only for a moment, wouldn't it be great if he ended up in Chicago? And the next thing I heard is that Jay Cutler would be donning the Blue and Orange of Illinois and Chicago and I had visions of another Super Bowl, maybe 5 or 6.
To say that he is having a disappointing season is.....well.....an understatement.
My logical mind tells me that Rome wasn't built in a day and neither is an NFL dynasty. My emotions have me crumpled on the floor in the corner weeping like a young girl.
Help me brothers. Tell me that everything will be alright, that Jay will lead us to the promised land eventually. It is so hard for a Bears fan up here in da nortwoods, eh! All my buddies here are (urp!) Packer backers. Please help. I have no fingernails left after the Eagles game.
P. S.: Urp! means I just threw up in my mouth a little. !*u%e

Being a Cowboys fan since I was a wee lad, I can say I feel your pain Buddha. All I know to say is hang in there.

Da Bears . Hummm   They are always the great Bears, --  until the season starts.  They would be the world champs every year, -- if only they didn't have to play those games.   They just don't have the horses to win,  It doesn't matter who the QB is or isn't, Cuttler, Grossman, Orten, and all the others who have shuffled (opps scratch that, it ain't 1985 anymore), in and out of that position.  And the coaches??  Don't get me started.  Where's Da Coach when you need him?   Hard to keep count over the years, more head coaches or more QBs since the last Super Bowl win?    But ya gotta love em.   Just wait till next year.  Or am I getting  confused ?  Yep, probably so, Bears, Cubs,  well, you get the idea.
But you gotta love em.
Bet ya can't guess who my favorite team(s) is/are?   I have two

Budda, I know your pain, but I am right in the heart of Bears country...  And it's disappointing seeing all the fans that are already talking about baseball season.

I, for one, believe in Cutler and look at it realistically... it's his first season on a new team and this is a transition year.

However, that being said, the Bears still have more issues than that..

Multiple things need to happen to "fix" da Bears...

1. Get an offensive line
2. Get a top wide receiver
3. Get a real offensive coordinator
4. Get a head coach that shows some type of life now and then
5. Tweak the defense

Funny Rob, you could say the same thing about my team.

Tweak the defense?  Just tweak the defense?
In ten games this year Da Bears have allowed a total of 225 points.  They allowed 24 against the Lions!  And 45 against the Bengals.  And 41 against the Cardinals.
That screams 'overhaul' not 'tweak'
I'd suggest that the QB get his butt in gear, he's been in the NFL now four years.  And a  'transition' year for Cutler could also apply to the the next team's QB that they play.  Good ol' #4 still doesn't look right in purple but he has seemed to make the transition quite well.  Most really good QBs usually do.   Guess we'll see about that this Sunday.
I do agree with your #1 thru #4 things to fix.  But tweaking the defense?  Overhaul that darn defense.

Roger that! Stafford looks great and he reacts well under pressure.
