hey everybody. i am 18 years old, going to college, and am a DI waterpolo player. first started losing my hair freshman year in high school, and have been taking rogaine ever since. i still have quite a bit of hair, but the thinning is finally becoming noticeable in the front. the chlorine destroying the hair makes it even worse. when everybody goes back home for thanksgiving break (i am going to school on the other side of the country, so im staying put) im going to try the shave. not sure how the parents are going to take it, but theyll have to take it one way or another when i come home for winter break. always have had longer hair, so no clue what its going to look like when i shave off all the blonde, but im crossing my fingers and hoping for the best! oh, and any advice for the first time shave would be appreciated, thanks.

Welcome Nolan! Nice decision to ditch the drugs...... you can use the extra money to date all the girls that will be wanting to hang out with you..........
have been taking rogaine ever since. . . .any advice for the first time shave .
Welcome to the site, and as the guys have told you there is a lot of really good information on just about anything related to dealing w/ male pattern baldness and the only completely safe way to deal with it, except of course, how to manage a combover

.
Now that you have ditched the rogaine, and put that money back in your pocket for more enjoyable stuff, advice? Well, first of all enjoy it, you're going to get such a high right after rinsing your newly clean smooth scalp, it's really going to surprise you. Then, thirty days, keep it clean and smooth for thirty days. That will get you by any negative responses--generally from family, but many guys even get support there too. Other than that, just post up with some pictures, let us all know how is going, and any problems that arise from shaving. You're really going to like this, we promise.
Welcome Nolan! Going Sly will fit in with the water polo look for sure.
As for the first shave, take it slow and use a good razor and some good shaving cream.
Welcome Nolan. Good Luck!
Welcome to SBGs, Nolan!!!
