M5 anxiety...............
« on: November 17, 2009, 10:49:22 PM »
Anyone have any bad luck with the notorious M5 razor? have heard horror stories from people stating it pulls and drags the hair causing skin irratation and red bumps, and sometimes cuts! I have one still in the package, have not used yet, as am getting a bit gun-shy.  Will give a test once Fusion cartridge wears down,  I guess the only way to find out, is to use it!

Edge...... there are many fans of the M5 on board here...... including myself. I've had no problems with it at all and love it. I have even stocked up on about a years worth of blades.

Do beware of the trimmer...... some guys are nicking their ears with it!

No they do not, but, in correspondence with Personna I suggested to them that they design a Head Blade type handle to be used with the M5 carts. The M5 cart has a totally different configuration.

Also, the trimmer problem is said to be in the process of being taken care of as Personna is re-designing the trimmer. New carts are supposed to be out this month. If you go to the Personna website and fill out the customer feedback form they will send you a free 4 pack of carts and the person I have been in touch with is going to send me a pack of the new ones when they are available.

Yes. That is the department. You should get a nice email message, and a package in the mail in a few days.

Oh .... back on message. I haven't experienced any skin irritation or anything with the M5 blades.  8)

I've been using it.  No skin irritation or anything like that.  I do keep nicking my ear with the trimmer blade.  My understanding is that it is being redesigned, so hopefully that won't be an issue much longer.

No irritation here either. Do beware of the trimmer blade but otherwise if you're careful you'll get a great irritation free shave.

Finally tried the M5, and you know what? I like it, did not experience any unusual pulling or irratation, this razor rocks and cuts just like the Fusion (my favorite blade), will definately continue to use! Fusion and M5 from here on

I've been using the M5 for over a month now, still getting wonderful, smooth, comfortable, long lasting smooth shaves.  It's even getting my neck under the beard smoother than any other razor I've used.  That edging blade is touchy, but even that is better at edging than the Fusion.  Love the price.
They're stocking more of these at the Wal-Mart too, eating into the Fusion territory on the shelf.  That's really going at Gillette where they live.  Fusion was good too, but the price--not realistic when there's competition like M5.  Hum, competition--that's a pretty good idea I guess, better product, cheaper price >:D >:D >:D.  Who thought that idea up? :/O

I still use the M5 today.  I find when I use it with either Shave Secret or Nivea Shave Gel, and go gently over the dome it works fine.  I've even managed to cut down the nicks when going over my upper lip.  Please excuse me, time to keep the dome up! O0

I just got the free 4-pack of carts with the revised trimmer yesterday in the mail. I have yet to try them but will post up as soon as I test one out.
