Friday The 13th

Got through my morning shave today without any nicks today.

I didn't realize that today was Friday the 13th until I got to work and
turned my computer on. I'm gonna be on the cautious side the rest of the day.
People fear what they don't understand and from that fear certain superstitions, have been practiced as a form of protection from these unknown fears. Although most of the superstitions from the past have since been proven by science as unnecessary, ineffective, or simply ridiculous, many are still religiously practiced today by very intelligent and sane people.
Did you know that pulling out a gray or white hair will cause ten more to grow in its place. OMG!!

And
Dropping a comb while you are combing your hair is a sign of a coming disappointment. That's something most of us won't have to worry about. TG!
Have a SAFE Friday the 13th.

Not really superstitous here either...but the black cat thing is always in the back of my mind.
It may have just been one of those things, but a story my grandmother told me once has stuck with me.
One day my grandparents and another couple were doing some traveling when a black cat crossed the road ahead of them. You know the old tale about a black cat crosses your path means bad luck. Well, my grandmother tried to tell my grandfather that they needed to turn and go another way...not to cross the cats path. My grandfather always thought it was hogwash. He proceeded forward....well within a 1/4 mile from the "cats path" a car failed to stop at a stop sign and T Boned them. My grandmother who was sitting in back right behind my grandfather who was driving both ended up with broken arms. She never let my grandfathe live that down...should have taken another route!....

I am a believer in, or perhaps an advocate of, the black cat theory but not for the same reason. I consider black cats to be harbingers of a sort that are placed in my path to warn me of a problem ahead. I could apply this logic to Timmay's post and I think it works. When a black cat does cross my path I thank him for his warning and continue on with due caution. For me it is a lucky thing.

No superstitions here........ I owned a black cat my entire childhood, then another as a young adult. EVery year I played baseball I wore number 13. I walk under ladders intentionally to watch others cringe.
Bring it on!!!!!!!!

I hate Friday the 13th... two Friday the 13ths, two accidents! So, I try to not do anything on those days...
However, this past one, I woke up in Vegas, taught a class, got on a plane and flew to O'Hare, got in my car and drove to Michigan to see my parents! I was just waiting and waiting for something to happen... and was very relieved when the clock struck midnight and it was Saturday the 14th!

I've been laid off twice in my adult career...both times I was wearing a blue dress shirt. Since then, I've only worn white dress shirts.

Not exactly a superstition but September 29 is not a date I look forward to as I have 3 relatives that all died on that day. My mother, grandmother and uncle all died in different years on that date. Worse yet my birthday is on September 28. So when September 30 gets here each year i breathe sigh of relief.

I dont really have any bad superstitions like that but some others. For example, when I put on footwear I always put my right boot on first and when showing I always start with my right foot. I dont remember when I started, it was maybe 7 years ago and I think I heard about it from a relative, you always start your day off right when putting your right foot forward or something like that. And its weird, when I have put my left boot on first I have a crappy day. Another one is when going on a trip, always put a boot on the porch or fence, if you dont something bad will happen on the trip, and it has shown to be true for us too, I went to a show on the coast and forgot to leave a boot out and I did the worst that I have ever done.

picked up a couple about baseball when i was coaching my son. like warhawk, i will not step on a foul line. always make a pitcher warm up throwning towards home plate. always wear a hat all season. no new one in the middle.
knives are another one. will not close a knife that someone else opens and will always give someone a coin if they give me a knife. was told that if i didn't, it would cut the friendship.
usually avoid goin under ladders but not really freaked out about it. i think it is more cause i was told as a kid not to do that. lol
can't really think of any others right now.
