Inspiring Music Lyrics
« on: October 24, 2009, 01:49:22 PM »
Any of you hear know of any inspiring lyrics that pump you up when you hear them?

I like these from Jay Z's Run This Town Tonight:

Life's a game but it's not fair
I break the rules so I don't care
So I keep doin' my own thing
Walkin' tall against the rain
Victory's within the mile
Almost there, don't give up now
Only thing that's on my mind
Is who's gonna run this town tonight

People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.

Christmas Eve.......midnight.....in Church.......lights out and each person is holding a lit candle. Then so very softly everyone sings "Silent Night" acapella.

Chills, tears, and a sense of renewal for me every year..............

Funny this topic appears today, my daughter & I were driving to her soccer tournament yesterday and she wanted to listen to some "pump me up music". One of our favorite tunes to pump it up is "Indestructible" by Disturbed. Love the chorus:

"Indestructible,
Determination that is incorruptible.
From the other side a terror to behold.
Annihilation will be unavoidible".

One song that I really love and keeps things in perspective for me is "Front Porch Looking In" by Lonestar. The video is korny, but the lyrics are great.

Agonizing over what cannot be is an insult to what is.

Kind of depressing, but Jesus of Suburbia by Green Day gets me pumped...

That's me at times, the son of Rage & Love!

Yes, I have all 9 minutes 18 seconds of it memorized word for word.

Firestorm By Earth Crisis has always given me the chills, especially towards the end of the song.
"Street by street. Block by block. Taking it all back.
The youth immersed in poison - turn the tide counterattack.
Violence against violence, let the roundups begin.
A firestorm to purify the bane that society drowns in. No mercy, no
exceptions, a declaration of total war.
The innocent's defense is the reason it's waged for.
Born addicted, beaten and
neglected. Families torn apart, detroyed and abandoned.
Children sell their bodies, from their high they fall to drown.
Demons crazed by greed cut bystanders down.
A chemically tainted welfare generation.
Abslolute complete moral degeneration.
Born addicted, beaten and neglected. Families torn apart,
detroyed and abandoned. Children sell their bodies, from their high
they fall to drown. Demons crazed by greed. Cut bystanders down.
Corrupt politicans, corrupt enforcement, drug lords and
dealers, all must fall. The helpless are crying out.
We have risen to their call. A firestorm to purify."

Also, "Chaney Can't Quite Riff Like Helmet's Page Hamilton" by Evergreen Terrace. This songs lyrics are very uplifting, but everything they do gets me all riled up.

"Through black and blue;
Through thick and thin;
It takes much more to break the skin;
Looks like we've finally made it,
This time we finally made it;

We've had our backs, against the wall,
And all you've said we've proven wrong;
Looks like we've finally made it,
This time we finally made it;"

I'm bringing this thread back to life because on  my way home this evening I heard one of my favorite songs that inspires me.
I'm not a big fan of contemporary country music because I think most of it is what we used to call "Pop music"....... and I'm definetly not a fan of TimMcGraw....... but he has one song that I love.

"Live Like You Were Dying"

It's really an anthem about enjoying life. Just typing out the lyrics would not do this great song justice so I've posted a link to a video. The video is the song played over top of scenes from the movie "The Bucket List". I've never seen that movie but after watching this video I will be seeing it. Immediately after the song is a scene from the movie...... take the few moments to watch i

There is a lot of truth in that song.
Our country demands all our strength, all our energies. To resist the powerful combination now forming against us will require every man at his place. If victorious we will have everything to hope for in the future. If defeated, nothing will be left for us to live for.
