New Razor. Magnum M5

So I was strolling thru Wal-mart and I went down the aisle where razor/blades are kept intending to spend like 13 bucks on a 4 pack of fusion blades....

and I see this new razor the Magnum M5. looks like a fusion. but the razor and the blades are half the price. I was skeptical but willing to give it a shot.

My review is that the M5 is slightly inferior in every conceivable category, with the obvious exception to price. Most notable, and perhaps surprisingly the biggest difference is not the shave quality but rather the blades wear out kinda fast.  The M5 got me 2-3 good headshaves, Fusion will usually get me 5-7. hence they price difference.

but I wanna know if you guys have tried it and whaduya think

It shaves closer, smooth lasts longer, same durability--I change blades every Saturday.  It seems to "pull' more but I attribute that to it's grabbing the hairs and pulling them out further to cut closer.  I really like it, really like it.

The price is the contributing factor for my purchase.  And yes it does pull more than a Fusion.  But I do get a better shave.  I've noticed less stubble in the mornings.  Hence, quicker shaving time.  My only real complaint however, is that the blades I purchased seem to loose the orange strip rather easily.

I've noticed the pulling also. I think it's something to do with the lube strips. Once I get going with it and the strips get some head slick (or whatever shave cream) worked into them the pulling seems to decrease. In any case it hasn't been a problem.

I seem to get a closer shave, but I do notice the drag and I also notice the blades wear faster.  I got 2 weeks out of a fusion. I am pushing it to get a week out of the M5.  But they are less than half price of the fusion.

I switched to the M5 too because of cost but... the Fusion IS a better razor, just not worth the price difference to me.

I read the reviews on the M5 and decided to give it a try.  I'm still kind of new to this headshaving (about 7 months now i'm bbc and i'm never going to have hair again i love it so much. ) I thought if i could keep it smoother longer using a different razor than it was worth the try.  I've already gone back to my fusion,  I think the fusion last longer and i did not really notice a difference in the smoothnesss of the shave.  I shave everyother day to get my dome the smoothest (shaving daily it never gets close enough).  The cost is better than the fusion, but they do las longer the m5 lasts me 3 to 5 shaves the fusion i can use for about a week and a half.

Just started it this past weekend.  Like the other guys, it was a cost thing (cheaper than my Mach 3).  So far, it's good.  A bit of advice though: if you're using a shave oil, be careful.  I've found out the more blades in a head the quicker it can gunk up! 

Will give more on the M5 as time progresses.

I love my M5.  I get about 2 weeks out of a blade.  I read somewhere that if you dry the blade off after using, it helps keep it sharp longer.  It seems to make a difference.  I also have not had any nicks with the M5.  I had a couple of nasty one's when I was using the Head Blade.

Just bought the infamous M5, have not yet tried, but will give full review of! was able to find at Rite Aid as is only exclusive to the drugstore chain in my area.

I've been using M5 for about three weeks now.  The Fusion IS a better razor hands down.  BUT the price of the M5 can't be beat. 

I have mixed feelings about it.  I get a smoother shave initially, but seem to have stubble quicker.  Weird
AND be very careful with the trimming blade.  I keep cutting the space where my ear is attached to my head with it.  That's getting rather annoying.

For all the around-the-ear work I use a smaller 2blade Sensor Excel, it is alot easier to navigate, and does not have a trimming blade the Fusion and M5 have that can bite ya if not careful!

AND Personna has already listened to customer feedback and has redesigned the trimmer blade. The new cartridges are supposed to be out shortly. (IBID)

After picking up an M5 a few weeks ago, I thought I'd give it what I call the "TV Test" - Shave one half of my head with a new M5, the other half with my Mach 3. Gotta say the M5 comes real close. Al little "draggy" as a few guys have already mentioned, but for the price, it's a good shave, and a great deal. When you factor in the enclosed coupons for the refills (not to mention the free 4-pack of cartridges and even more coupons from their marketing folks when you send them some props) the M5 is pretty hard to beat, even if the blades don't last as long as the "premium" brands.

I think my routine (for a while anyway) will be to use the M5 for the grunt work, and the Mach 3 for the finishing touch. Should get pretty good mileage that way.
