Do you have a manspace?
« on: October 16, 2009, 10:31:40 AM »
I was watching a video over at TED.com today and it was all about manspaces.  If you don't know what a manspace is then go to this link (http://www.slybaldguys.com/serendipity/archives/248-The-world-of-manspaces.html) and watch the video I posted on the blog.

Basically a manspace is a man's hangout, dwelling, man cave, etc.  How many of you have a manspace?

Interesting topic.  I keep trying to create my man space, but it keeps getting invaded by all the women in my house.  My wife complained, in our prior house, that I had my own space in my office  and she didn't have such a space for herself.  So, in our new house, we designated a spare bedroom as HER ROOM.  Well, somehow she refuses to use HER ROOM and is constantly in my man space.  Of course, she insists on "cleaning it up" when she visits, which results on my not being able to find anything.

My attempt to create a man space has failed, for now ...  Between my wife, daughter, and the female cat, they're always invading my man space.

Andrew, you may have to build something outside or find a hidden manspace.

I have a library of sorts, everytime a get enough money to put in some book shelves, etc., the wife, the two daughters or our dog, a neutered female (Andrew, we seem to be living in parallel universes  ;D), seem to have another use--so its standing bookcases, books in boxes, and a general mess--but the mess keeps my family out >:D
They only come in to print something on the desktop, and other than that it's mine.

This hilarious!! Any man with women in the house either doesn't have a man space or will lose it in relatively short order.....

My whole place is sorta a "manspace" but I guess my recording studio and my home theater are two of my main areas that would be considered my Manspace.

A friend of mine had a pretty cool manspace.  He slowly transformed his shed into a very functional manspace.  First, he added power.  Then, he added a fridge.  Then came the cable TV.  He had a really nice house, but seemed to spend a lot of time in the shed.  Whenever they had company, the women and kids would be in the house and all of the men would file out to the shed for beer, baseball, and swearing.

Hmmmm....    I just got a new shed ....

I was without a manspace for 18 years. Now the whole place is a manspace.
