Comcast Cable for internet, and DirecTV for the TV since we can get Brazilian channels for Mrs. Mvmnt.

but boy oh boy, if i can find a decent stream of TV Globo, then im getting rid of DirecTV and hooking the TV up to a computer!

I had the Comcast Triple Play for TV, Internet and Phone.  I actually liked it a lot.  I enjoyed getting the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and getting news from a non-American perspective.

However, I got rid of Comcast to reduce my bills since I need to get my credit cards paid off.  That will be done in February.  At that point, I will bring back Comcast.  So currently I use the digital over the air settop box.  But I hate the fact that I can't get some channels anymore and others keep pixelating.  Very annoying!

I also get my internet for free at home as I have been able to tap into a unencrypted wireless signal.  But lately that has not been consistant.  So I am typing this at the Starbucks at my local mall.

As I've said, we have DishTV & are pretty happy w/ it.  Question has come to mind, and I hope this isn't a "highjack" but what happens when you're contract, ours was two years, comes to an end?  :/O :/O I'd like to have some information from someone who's been through it to see if any better deals can be cut staying w/ DishTV or switching to Direct.  We won't go back to Cox Cable, if it meant giving up TV entirely--they really suck here.  And the new glass fiber deal isn't here yet--not even heard of as far as I know.

Gents,
A co-worker was telling me about watching TV via the Internet for real cheap!!  I couldn't remember the name of the website, so I searched and found a Consumers article on the subject.  It also includes links to the top 3.
http://consumersguides-2009.org/tvtopcreviews/m.htm
I looked at the first one and it's either a monthly fee of a few bucks or a lifetime fee of about 35 bucks.  If you have a good quality monitor and/or don't mind having your computer on when you're watching TV (yeah, it would probably all have to be in the same room), then this might be a solution for you who like to watch the 1-eyed baby sitter (TV).   O0
Also, if you're not into cable packages and want cheaper phone service, there are a number of options.  What I went with is unlimited home phone for about 10 bucks/ month through my cell phone company (t-something).  There are lesser expensive programs than this one, again, through your computer; so you'd have to have your computer on to get calls I'd suppose, and my ancient tube monitor and pc eat up about 200-300watts of power each.  This means my electric bill would sky-rocket to save elsewhere.  If I got an LCD monitor, they can have power ratings around 20 watts, but I can't justify the cost to lower my electic bill...yet!  8)
