lol...is this considered entertainment?? lol
« on: October 14, 2009, 02:03:23 PM »
yesterday I was eating lunch with my friend Keith. You all have heard about Keith from  me before.  He is the pastor at my church and the one who his truck was swept away in the flooded river.

Anywho...we were sitting next to the window at Hardees which is right next to the drive thru.  I look up and this lady is driving her motorized wheelchair the the drive thru.  I just thought it really struck me funny.  We both kinda chuckled about it and Keith said, well I guess she was hungry.  Funny thing is ..she pulls up in front of Hardee's, eats her food then drives back thru again to get dessert.

I guess you just had to be there but I just would figure it isnt something you see every day.  The following picture isnt mine...but I found this one to give you all a visual...

That's pretty funny.
People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.

It happens all the time. A vehicle is a vehicle. I guess it is funny unless you are confined to one because your legs don't work anymore.

But the American's with Disabilities Act requires access to buildings, why wouldn't she go inside???  I don't think she's got all the slates on the roof, or a fully charged battery.

I'm kinda amazed that they served her.  When I worked at Burger King in High School we wouldn't let people ride through the drive through on their bicycle for liability reasons.

They shouldn't have served her for a whole host of reasons. I'll bet all her shingles are on the roof and it was just more a case of "this is my world and you're just living in it".

Most places don't have entrances that are wide enough for a power chair. A walker or a standard wheelchair only.

Im sorry, it just really struck me funny.  Here we are engaged in a conversation and out of the corner of my eye..here comes this lady just truckin thru the drive thru with her bag of food in the front basket.  In no way shape or form am I implying that it is funny she is in a motorized wheelchair, and I am sorry if she couldnt fit in the doors at this establishment...but she had these big saddle bags on each side.  YOu would have need an overhead door to get her in.

Don't mean to argue, but the Act requires that the entrances be "friendly" to all means of access--and all planning commissions, permit departments, etc., insure that the requirements are met.  She's just a little dotty, she'd be appreciated in New Orleans, but in the Mid-West, they're not that tolerant of "deviant" behavior.

I don't mean to argue either but you would be hard pressed to find a place with a wide enough entrance for a power chair. Trust me, I speak from experience.
