Hi,
Been fighting the fringe for almost a decade with a short crop from the clippers. I've shaved the head before but I felt more comfortable with the buzz cut. However, I just shaved my head two days ago. People are so used to me with the buzz cut, that they didn't even bat an eyelash or say anything that I shaved it smooth. I guess they either didn't notice or they just assumed it was the next step. LOL
Anyhow, I think the look is nice and clean. And, takes a few years off. So, I think I will give it a go for the full 30 days. Granted my boss, the owner of the company I work for, hasn't seen me yet. I'm sure he will have a new item for his arsenal of insults. But, I feel a confidence going for me now, and I have this site to thank for that. Thanks guys!
Rich

Welcome to the Forum Rich! Remember, when the boss insults you it's because of something that's just not right in his own life. Just laugh it off because you will know that you are happy and he has some underlying issue(s).

Welcome, good to have you around.
One of the surprises of going sly, shaved to the bone, is that for so many of the people you know it will be a non-event, no comments at all. I think we work it up in our own minds that it is a super big change but no one else does.
If your boss has an "arsenal of insults" he probably has issues dealing with people anyway. It may be a twisted sort of humor in his mind. If you do the job, produce and keep the people who deal w/ the business happy, shaved or buzz won't make any difference.
The "years off" effect is common too. Not a bad one. There's also the sensation you may feel, "Who's the dude in the mirror?" After 30 days, my bet is that you'll keep it smooth, it just is too good to go back to a horseshoe.
Again welcome, and put up a picture when you get a chance.

Welcome aboard!
The info and guidance you can get from this site can be incredible. Definitely check out the routine section of the forum as Warhawk suggests. I'm heading into 2 years of sly in a few months and could never have done it without these guys help.
And don't worry about the extra time it takes to maintain. Coming from a long time buzz cut myself I hated the extra work in the AM but soon developed my technique significantly shortening the time it takes to shave, plus now it's just part of the routine along with feeding the dog in the morning.

Welcome Rich great to have you with us. I wouldn't worry about the insults. In my experience they are generally from guys who are envious that they haven't had the gonads to go sly themselves.

Welcome here, Rich!
I changed in August 2007 from buzzcut to HB-shave and am very happy.

Welcome Rich, you've made the right decision to shave it smooth. Don't worry about insults and naysayers, like Paul said, they don't have the cojones to do it themselves, and our show of confidence probably seems to bring their "lack of" out more.
Enjoy the forum and keep that dome smooth!
