Razor to use with Headblade
« on: September 29, 2009, 03:24:52 PM »
When I first got the headblade sport it had the triple blade on it and it did a good job. After a couple of shaves I could notice that is wasn't doing a good of a job. So, I changed blades. It still wasn't shaving good. So I switched to a Gillette excel twin blade. It was a great job, but I am nicking my scalp some. I'm not putting any pressure on the blade. Is there anything I can do to stop this?

Chris,

I use Headblades product called head shed. I used to nick my head a lot until I started using it. This is how I prepare for my head shave. I get in the shower with the hottest water I can stand. Wet my head real good. Then I use head shed, and rub it in real good for a minute. Rinse it out, then immediatly get out of the shower and lather in the headblade mentholated shave lotion. Then just shave as normal.
I'm smooth (my head is anyway) If you aren't smooth figuratively speaking, let everyone know that you are literally smooth on top.

Welcome to the Forum Chris!

I had trouble with nicks when I used doubles so I went back to triples. I always get a good shave with them. If you're new to the HeadBlade you may need to get a few more shaves under your belt to master it.

I don't believe the "no pressure" thing when it comes to the HB....I do apply some presssure but the key is to make sure you have slightly more pressure on the back of the (wheels or pad) HB than on the front (blade end).

The best way to use the headblade is to apply "some" pressure on the back, while maintaining the blade on your scalp with and against the grain.  O0

Everyone is different but I say NO PRESSURE!  That's when I lose skin!  I hate to say it but I get the best shave with HeadBlade triples.  I can't find a triple that works as good.

Headblade classic, atra generic doubles, apply no pressure. I think of using my headblade like combing my hair...well, except for the hair thing.

I have a rather large "sale" stash  of the HB triples, I use for just plain everyday use going to work whatever. I use the double Altra when my wife and I are going out or something special because they give me a closer shave. I wash the dome with hot water and the put headslick  on and let it sit on the head for for a couple of min. Then I go ever so slowly accross the stubble the the HB. I use the ol, frount to back then reverse the path. Then go back to pick up any areas I may have missed. I avoid the nick monster by going slow. I can complete the three "S"s in the a.m. in about 20 min. The one thing that I do notice is the Clear head burns like hell after I shave with the doubles but not with the triples. Must be it's a closer shave? Well anyhow if I was not wake before.....after that I am wide wake.

There was a post on here a month or two ago that someone, I believe Tyler, listed all the blades that will work with which adapter.  I looked and couldn't find it.  If I do, I'll let you know.  When you buy the Headblade Sport, it comes with both the yellow and black adapter.  I do know that the Mach 3 blades will not work with the Headblade.

You can use the Atra or Vector, which are the same cartridge but with a different name.
Use the yellow adapter that comes with the HeadBlade.

Like I said before in this thread I stated using the doubles (Alta) for special occasions because it was a closer shave. I decided to use them for a couple of weeks when I went on vacation. They made my my head sore as all hell after a week of daily use, no reddness, no bumps, no pimples, nothing but DAMN it was sore. Stopped shaving the dome for a day or so and went with double again...... sore again. Went back to triple and all is good. Any ideas why this happened and is  there a fix. Routine is wash head in shower, put head slick on head, finsh my shower shave in shower, get out rinse head with cold water apply clear head and put on Glossy lotion and head out for the day.
