I've never had that dream because I shaved my head at a time I felt I didn't have to.  But, now I'm basically bald by genetics, but choose to keep it slick.

Same here -- with the result that I really don't know how much hair I would have left if I stopped shaving.  I've definitely lost more since I started shaving; the top stays smooth much longer than the sides do.  There is some hair growing up there, though.  I just can't stand to let it go long enough to find out how much I'd actually end up with.   The hairline seems to be pretty much gone while the rest of the top is a little thicker, but on its way out.

The thing is, because I shaved it before I really had to, I still sometimes think I could get back to that point if I stopped shaving.  But a day or two of letting it grow out usually puts that myth to rest.

Last night's dream involved me shaving, then almost immediately it would be long again. I kept shaving it over and over till I finally gave up. Kind of funny, especially now that I read your post.
