My dad taught me how to ride a bike.  I had an old bike that my father got somewhere.  basic black bike.  All my friends were getting bikes with the banana seats, sissy bars and the high chopper handle bars.  I wanted one so bad, I kept bugging my parents to get me one.  I am not sure how long it was but one day my father and I were in the hardware store and he took me over to the paint section and told me to pick the color I wanted my bike...Fire engine red... then over the next couple of weeks we took it apart, painted it, and rebuilt it with everything I wanted on it.  Hey, Thanks for bringing up the father/son memory!

my dad taught me to ride a bike.  It was my sister's old bike painted red and we had lost the training wheels.  Last time i rode a bike was friday, I did a 15 mile ride around the town, getting ready to start biking 30- 40 miles a day to work and back.  I love it it is a great workout.

my dad helped me learn when i was 4 years old, been ridin all sorts of bikes since. Recently in the last 5 years i been doing the Downhill Mountain biking thing, started racing, raced national championships twice now, and ride dirt jumps just about everyday bicycles are a fun invention

It makes me sad that so many of you guys don't have bicycles.  It's just as much fun when you're an adult.  It's like riding a bicycle...

My question is why do people stop riding bicycles?  (Good starter question, though, Warhawk!)

i rode alot in colorado when i was there. but not since i moved back to lousyana. too damn flat here.

In the early 80's was the last time I rode--I had gotten a Bottecchia, when they were made in Italy, and got into serious riding when I was clerking for the Courts after law school in the 70's.  That really helped me get rid of some serious weight problems and led me to running which eclipsed the bike w/in about 6 months bc it was even better for melting off the fat, for anything but an occcasional spin.  I took it to our place in Waveland, and the salt air and the bike didn't get along at all.  Among the activities the neurosurgeon said were no no's after my two back surgeries in 2001 was the bike.  In any event, it went when Katrina tore the whole place down anyway.  I learned to ride from my Dad, who bought me what was called and English Racer--no matter who made them--geared bikes--yes long ago there were bikes w/o gears.

First bike was a blue and white Bobcat bmx, use to pound the ground on a daily basis with that thing. Last time I went biking was probably about 2 years ago with my mountain bike.

The last time I rode a bike was a couple months ago, it didnt have breaks and I was being pulled by a border collie that was chasing the car, it ended in a bloody tangle. The last 2 years I rode my bike to work when I lived in the sticks. It was 6 1/2 miles to the cow dairy, 9 miles to the goat dairy, and 5 miles to the hardware store and they were all pretty straight roads, I went up 1/2 mile then down 6 for the cow dairy but the others were all down the same road. Now that I have the new job that is only 6 miles away I thought about riding a bike but 6 miles in town seems way longer than 6 miles in the sticks.

 My brother taught me how to ride a 2 wheel bike. I started on a little bitty one but it broke so the next bike was my brothers 10 speed. I was only 6 when I rode the 10 speed and it was so high in the air, I crashed many times.

I rode my bike last night.    Me and the kids ride all the time.

I just taught my five year old daughter (the middle child) how to ride a 2 wheeler.  What a rewarding chore.  When she finally got it, she bragged to everyone that Daddy taught her.

i havent ridden a bike in prolly about 5-8 yrs. pretty bad considering im only 20 lol.

to be honest i believe i taught myself how to ride a bike. i remember the day like yesterday. i spent ALLLLLL day one summer, trying over and over again to ride without my training wheels on.
