Howdy yall!
« on: March 02, 2007, 10:04:18 PM »
Hey whats up all you SBG's!

Ive been lurking for a little while, but i finally decided to join this grand community. The reason why i joined is because all the posters here give great advice, and the vibe in these forums is top notch. Ive been balding since i was a senior in HS (im 23 now), and have been buzzing it pretty short (#2 just went down to #1) for a few months. Losing my feathers has been an interesting experience for me. For a long time it really got me down and out, and thats when i jumped on the big three- rogain, propecia, and nizoral shampoo. I obsessed like a mofo over my hair, and caused a lot of stress for myself. After reading posts on this site, i decided to grow up, crop the top, and drop the hair treatments. Its a shame how so many people buckle under societies superficial pressures. I havent gone sly yet, as i buzz with a #1 clip, but eventually i will be sly! I need to get used to the #1 for while before i bring down to skin. Im thinking my ears look huge, but that could be b/c ive never had it this short!

Everyone on this site seems really cool, and its going to fun participating in the community!!!

Oh and Tyler, that article you wrote about why men shouldnt fear balding was fanstastic, it really had a substantial impact on me.

welcome bluntman!..i agree with slickdome...take your time if you want...going down to a #1 is damn near sly....this will allow the people around you to get used to it..then when you go slick it won't be a shock to you and people around you.....but i do think once you finally go sly that you will be relieved.....i know i was.

Welcome to the group bluntman; We are glad you joind us. There are alot of people here that started out the same way as you, by takeing it down a little at a time, so that they and freinds, coworkers can get used to it. I think that after you finally do it, that you will feel liberated. But when you do finally do it just take your time, don't rush the job at hand, and pick the right product to use. So keep us posted and show us some before and after pics if you can.

I was like you bluntman, in the fact that I had been wearing my hair clipped to a #1 for awhile before I shaved.  I told family, friends and coworkers about my desire to shave.  Once the deed was done there were no surprises.

Welcome to SBG! I know what you mean about thinking your ears look huge, I had the same issue the first time I shaved. I am BBC, but I wanted to shave so bad that I couldn't stand it. I would drive everyone crazy talking about it and pointing out how good other people looked bald. Finally I took the plunge, thought my ears looked huge, but then I got used to it. When I first started shaving I asked all of my family and friends (people that I know wouldn't lie to me) if my ears looked big and they all told me no. I don't think my ears look that big at all now, so it does take a bit of time to get used to. Once you do it and get used to it, you'll love it! But just as everyone else has said, take your time.

Awesome!  Welcome to the site Bluntman.  I'm really happy that you decided to stop using the "hair growth" products and to join us instead.
