Bee Stings Led to Other Injuries Today ...
«

I'm not at all prone to injuries or sickness, but today was crazy. While trimming a tree, and unknowingly disturbing a bee's nest, I was swarmed by bees. I was stung a few times but they were swarming my head which sent me running. Being distracted I tripped over the curb and fell head-first into my driveway. With blood gushing out of my nose, glasses nowhere to be found, I got up and wabbled a few feet before my wife came running.
Having severe pain in my side and on my nose my wife rushed me to the hospital. After xrays of my ribs, chest, nose, and hand, and blood work to rule out internal bleeding and liver damage, they sent me home. No broken bones, but man am I ever sore. Scrapes on my arm, knee and hand ... Tomorrow morning is likely to be worse ...
Getting lots of pressure to take a sick day, but I'm hoping to drag myself into work ....

You may never feel it the first 24 hours because of the adrenaline and endorphin rush. It is kinda like working out. It is a day or two later that it really sets in. The bees were unsuccessful in reaching their target, weren't they?
Glad to hear you are ok. Just don't forget that the nest is there.

Wow Andrew ...what a bad day.
Be cautious wth the bee stings too. I was stung a couple of weeks ago while on my motorcycle and the sting site actually became very infected. I've been stung dozens and dozens of times in my life with no problem before this.
My doctor told me that a bee sting getting infected is not uncommon.

Sorry to hear about your encounter with those bees and other injuries that you got. One of the worst places to find bees, hornets and yellow jackets are arial phone line cable insulators that are usually located with in about 3 feet of the telephone poles, but just under the arial cable box you hook the cable terminal line box. It is really no fun finding them 22 feet above the ground and being straped on so you can't get away.
Anyway hope you heal up good.
