A comment made you go back to sly?

Hello guys, Im new in the forum and i though i would share a thing that happened to me a few days ago

Ok so , about a week and a half ago i went sly and ,even though i liked it ,i realized that it is a very high maintenance hairstyle so i though "im gonna let it grow to a buzz cut and keep it there " just like i had been doing for months.

That was until just the other day a girl friend of mine commented that it was growing back and said something among the lines of : "Ahh your hair is growing again, to bad you only got like 3 hairs up there  "
I blew it off but as every day went by I started getting self-conscious about it ( mind you, Im not bald or thinning, i just have a receding hairline and a very tall forehead, a thing that didn't bother me in the least until that comment ) so today i went sly again (with a new shaving brush and soap so its also my best head shave yet) and Im planning in staying there.
Has something similar ever happened to one of you?


BTW,Im not insecure its just that being told that at 17 years old is pretty depressing.

Don't let what others say, control your life.  If you go SBG, then do it for yourself and not because someone made a comment about having only 3 hairs grow back and made you feel funny.  I will not nor do I care what others make comments about, that causes me to do things.... I went SBG because it fits and I love it.

Be BALD & BOLD because you want to be, and for no other reason!

Trust me.  It is pretty depressing at any age.  But do it for yourself whatever you decide to do. 

It has taken 39 years to get to the point where I said to hell with everyone else.  I was always worried about my appearance and how others would perceive it.  Once I shaved it, it made a pretty strong point to everyone that I did not care what their opinion was and that I was more than my hair growth.  What I lost in hair I gained exponentially in self esteem and confidence.  I never got that when mother nature was involved in the decision.  I gave that to myself.  Best present I ever got.

So, blow off the comment about three hairs.  At least they are not coming out of your nose.  If you want to grow it back, the others will eventually follow suit.  A whole head does not grow at a constant rate.  It's kinda like grass.  It has to be mowed periodically to appear uniform.

I like the shaved head look and i did it for me but shaving every day is kinda tiresome, i was planning to do it again but didnt know when, (maybe a week later maybe a day later, who knows) its just that the comment made me realized that my receding hairline IS visible (whatever, just another incentive to stay sly )

Also, the whole 3 hair thing was a joke, my hair was already even and at about clipper-shave lenght, she was reffering to the fact that i have a receding hairline and a slight widows peak, and i think it got to me because its the first time ANYBODY has ever commented on my receding hairline ( i was used to the big forehead jokes and didnt really cared because ive always had it that way so i knew it wasnt a sign of balding ) but someone commenting on me losing my hair was new.

Not necessarily age appropriate, but anyway, here goes.

A female co-worker once told me, "Don't think of it as going bald.  Think of it as getting more head."  All the incentive I ever needed.

Once I went sly, I knew it would be my primary look.  But one time I grew my hair back and a co-worker noticed that the back was thinning.  That actually made me go back to shaving sooner!

Some times people say comments and they are joking but it can hurt sometimes, But let it flow past and don`t worry about it, shave your head if you want to , But it to please your self no one else.
And if shaving it daily is tiresome then shave once a week or so.
But i shave mine while having ashower and it takes me about 10 minutes.
Or ask the g/f to do it for you.
Dont get down as you have a bunch of bald headed mates to support you.
