Honeymoon ideas
« on: July 27, 2009, 09:33:51 PM »
So I am getting hitched next april and the soon to be Mrs. has levied the honeymoon planning on me. It's crazy though! There are like so many choices and everything.

We have narrowed down a few things that we want to have:
Caribbean
All-Inclusive
Adults Only

So far I've asked a few of my friends who have recently been married and taken honeymoons and I have a few recommendations, but its hard to rule anything out because I have yet to find anyone who didn't "love" where they went.

Any ideas?

Tyler didn't you just go to a Sandals place? I really liked the info on the ones in St. Lucia but have heard they are somewhat overpriced compared to the ones in Jamaica and Bahamas.

It was fantastic!

Sandals in St. Lucia is AWESOME!  This is the one we stayed at - http://www.sandals.com/main/grande/gl-home.cfm

You can find great deals if you look for them or have a travel agent look for you.  My wife's aunt found us a deal for $3000 for the entire week.  I think we spent another $1,000 there on excursions and shopping outside of the resort.

The reason that St. Lucia (in my opinion) is better than the other islands is that there are 3 sandals resorts and you can take advantage of all 3.  So that means there are 3 times the restaurants, 3 times the beaches, 3 times the pools, and everything else.  The other advantage is that St. Lucia hasn't been hit by a hurricane in over 30 years or something like that.

Anyways, that was why we picked St. Lucia and we are very glad we did.

I've not been to St Lucia, but have been to the Bahamas and Jamaica.  St Lucia may be more expensive but it is definitely a step up (or 2) from those locations, IMO.

One of our favorites is Bermuda, which is not in the Caribbean but certainly close by.

Daughter and new S-in-L did Costa Rica--two resorts, one beach, one mountain--nice variety, compact, clean and safe.

Our honeymoon isn't what you are interested in, but I'll share it anyway.  We went to Los Angeles.  We went and saw the Jano Leno show and went to the Price is Right.  And we just drove around to see the city.

It's an odd sort of honeymoon, but it was great.  Oh, and I surprised her.  My wife didn't know where we were going until the wedding.

The Greek Isles are awesome as well. Either way , sand and water is a winner.

Just make sure to enjoy yourselves as much as possible and don't try to pack too much into a day. Sitting on the beach wrapped in a light blanket with a fire roasting marshmallows together is a good thing.
