First Bad Shave
« on: July 15, 2009, 09:41:02 AM »
Went to shave this morning and started with my Headblade... got two strokes in and realized it was too dull to finish.  So I went for my Mach 3... also dull.  But I couldn't just leave it, I had 3 or 4 strips of no hair on my head at this point, so I just suffered through the Mach 3... the headblade wasn't doing ANYTHING anymore.  My head is kind of hurting right now :'( , and I can't wait to get some more blades.  I'm gonna go by CVS and get some of those CVS branded triple blades for my HB, try them out.

Running out of blades is a real pain.  I did that once and had to struggle through with an old on.e

Well, last week was my first week... I mainly use an electric for my face, but I have a mach 3 that I take to camp with me cause I don't wanna risk my electric being stolen (we have rough kids at our church camps).

So I didn't have any extra blades yet, but I have an order coming in from HB that includes some blades (ordered before I got the idea to use CVS blades).

And by the way, whoever said the blades last one week was SPOT ON.  HAHA, should have listened better.

My blades just get gradually duller.  I know for awhile when I need a new one before it's totally gone.  My problem is remembering to change it out or buy new ones.  I shave in the shower, and I won't want to get out to swap blades, so suffer through it and hope to remember when I get out to change it.

Okay, I'll admit it. I'm so paranoid of this happening (because it has happened to me before) that after a couple of shaves with the fusion, I I leave my Mach III with a new blade setting on the counter right outside the shower!  Noooooo I am not Type A!! ;D

Stock reply: Stock Up.  In other posts I've mentioned that I shave with an antique, but the blades are still available, and compared to the "high tech" folderol that seems the common option these days, they are cheap, cheap.  So, I have several years supply w/o breaking the bank, or needing a loan to build up a good stock of spares. Cash in one of your IRA's and buy a dozen of the latest miracles...I guess this your only option, other than tweezing one by one when your medicine cabinet comes up empty and your last blade on hand has the edge of a butter knife.

Had my first HORRIBLE shave today.  Using the headblade, I made a gash that is unreal.  I thought I would need a transfusion by the time I was done almost bleeding out.  MAN that thing hurt.  Still does actually.  Don't know what I'm going to do while I wait on this to heal.  I look like a lepper.   :-[

I know how you feel sorta Slick A.  Grazed myself pretty good with the HB yesterday and looked like I skinned my head for a bit.  Once I iced it and washed the blood off, it did not look too bad and today you have to look really close to see where I did it.  Thank God my head seems to heal fast!

I think I read on here once that storing blades in rubbing alcohol extends their life?  Any truth to that?  I tried it but didn't notice any difference.

If so, that would be good info to have.  I have not run across that, but did see from others that the alcohol is a good idea to sterilize the blades is a good way to avoid necrotizing fasciitis.  Made me a believer.

I should post a pic to show you how bad mine was.  It looks a little better today, but people are still asking what I did to the dome.  So far, I've made up lots of good stories.

Is it just me or do most of the head shaving horror stories of late include the word Headblade:o

I have to admit that my HeadBlade has been sitting untouched on the shelf for quite awhile.   Not really any issues with it, but my Mach3 works just as well and I find it easier to use the same gear on my face and head.

I never had any cuts using the Headblade.  I just never got the knack of it.  I'm completely satisfied with the Fusion and feel I have control of it.
