It looks to me like a shaved head. Unless you are naturally bald or have been through something like laser hair treatment you will always have a shadow. Especially if you have dark hair. If you search this subject has come up a few times. My suggestion is to learn to get it just as close as you can and accept that that is what you're going to get!!

It's the shadow, and your's isn't bad at all, all things considered. As the guys have said the only final answer is something like laser or other permanent hair removal--but don't worry, many guys here will envy you light shadow.
The important thing is that you've got a great "dome" O0and it really looks good

. Hope you're enjoying the freedom, welcome.

Welcome aboard cincydavid.
Your sly dome looks good - nice shine too. The shadow will fade as the sun evens out your tan.

The darker your hair color and the denser the hair area,
the more the shadow will show even when totally smoothed out.

The dome looks great and the shine is awesome. Try getting a good tan and the appearance of the shadow may lessen.

Same here. The dreaded shadow! A tan does seem to help.

A little sun on the head covers mine and sorta bleaches out my natural hair color on the sides so the shadow fades a great deal. Good luck.

Hey Cincy!
Welcome to SBG. The dome looks great, man. The shadow is part of the deal if you have dark hair, but the guys here are giving good advice. A tan will cut it back, but take it slow and easy and use sunscreen to avoid burnin the noggin. That isn't a good thing to do.

As a newly minted Sly Bald Guy I will say my first few days had me wondering too. Then like the others here have said the sun evened things up a bit.
At least now it doesn't look like I have Chocolate Chip Ice cream on the back & sides.
Remember though....SPF 30 at least! I use 50

CDavid, you need to go against the grain to get as close as possible. Going against the grain right off the bat might be too irritating, but give it a few days and it should be fine.
