Hard areas to shave?
« on: June 30, 2009, 10:47:45 PM »
I suspect this problem may be unique to how my head is shaped, but maybe other people have the same problem?  I have difficulty shaving the top back part of my head.  My skull kind of peaks there I guess, and then slopes down in the surrounding areas  (This is hard to describe, maybe I need pics!).  Basically, if I were to stand up straight with my head level, and then tilt my head slightly downward, it would be the highest point of my head.  I have trouble shaving this area smooth, and it's probably the place I most often cut myself.  Even when I am very careful and working slowly I can still prick myself here.

Another area where it's sort of the same situation (but more exaggerated) is the adam's apple.

You're right, anything that sticks out the farthest or is at an edge tends to get caught.  All you can do is make sure your head is properly slicked up and take it slow.

Most of us have hard to shave areas. They get easier and easier to shave with practice.

If I'm correct you're describing the crown of your head. We all have one and it's commonly very to get it shaved correctly. I have to spend 10 or 15 swipes in every direction to get the dang thing shaved! With me it's there and below and behind my ears. As said it gets much easier with time and practice.

I have that problem too, in between my knuckles..lol

No, but seriously, the crown of my head i have to go at it in different angles.  I always save that area for last.  Sometimes I have to re-lube that area to make sure I get the best shave there.  My hair at the crown grows in sorta like a spiral, so I have to go at all angles to keep with the grain.

The back/side area. My hair is dense in that region and the grain goes all sorts of ways.
Like a patchwork quilt.

Lately I have actually started to shave that area first as it is the hardest, then I work the sides/ear area and finally the easiest area, the front.

I seem to do better working the more difficult areas first.

i kind of half ass the hard to shave areas. i used to be obsessed with getting them smooth but i realized that once your head drys you cant really feel em and its not noticeable anyways.

Ditto, I guess it stays that way from the old "haired" days, before I was "The Great Unhair" as I was once called on the sand volleyball court.

I'm sure I'll never speak from personal experience on this one, but I would bet that the hardest area to shave is just below the waist...  :o

Roger that. I have some difficult areas, a couple being in the back center of my head and the lower right hand corner.

Need long arms, as i shave my head with no problem at all, only place i have troubles is getting beard shaved right on both sides of face as i have only one eye and can see one side good but not the other properly.
