people can be so annoying
« on: June 26, 2009, 02:25:48 PM »
August 7, 2009  in Toronto,  Toronto FC vs. Real Madrid for a friendly game.
In case you don't know Real Madrid is the biggest soccer club in the world and
happens to be my favourite one.
I really want to go to that game but man all tickets have been sold out.

What bothers me is there are people in the U.S. and Canada who have bought tickets
and are selling them on ebay for a ridiculously higher price.
This game means a lot to me and it sucks that we have some idiots (yeah idiots) who are
not even going to the game doing this. >:(

At the same time, I have to ask: Does this ebay thing bring much profit to people?  Anyone know
any stories?

Dude as soon as anything big happens, people buy loads of tix and sell them for a prophet!! It annoys me beyond belief, it takes away the experience for the fans!

My story, Faith No More where doing a festival warm up gig, now without exagerating I would have given my right nut to see this gig but all the tickets where sold on presale before general sale was even open (which they didnt tell the general public) then I looked on EBAY and a £20 ticket where going for £300 upward, to say I was angry was an understatement  B@n% p0@^

I contacted the Toronto FC team and they told me there is nothing
they can do about it.   :( :(

Welcome to capitalism.  And I say that as a fan of it.

Though, there are times like these that it can suck if you are a big fan and want to attend an event, yet the scalped tickets are too high.

My advice would be to check just a couple days before an event.  There's always people that can't go and want to get their money back at the last minute so they sell their tix for face value.

And yes, people make A LOT of money on Ebay if they know what they are doing.

Hey Tyler I love capitalism.....just not when it affects me in a negative way.  >:D

Now the question is where do I find people who to sell their tickets for face value in the last few days?  Any web-site?  Would it still be ebay?
That wouldn't be bad.  I wouldn't mind paying an extra $40 per ticket above face value, but I am not going to pay close to double the original price.

cheers.
(and by the way, I think I should not have used the word "idiot", we may have people here doing that, sorry if it offended anyone)

I used to manage and eBay store and (skirting the law a bit here) I know of hundreds of people that make a huge amount at it. I've seen tickets that someone bought for say 50 bucks each sell them for 2 - 3 grand 3 or 4 days before the game or event! I'm with Tyler on this one, Yeah Capitalism!!
It's all about attitude!

I usually check StubHub.com or Craigslist.org when I'm looking for tix.

LOL - didn't have my glasses on when I read your post Tyler.  At first glance, I thought you said another 3-letter word ending in x.

I have a friend that has season tickets for the 76'ers and when he is not using them he sells them for the same price that he bought them for. Everybody is not out to break your balls. Selling $100 tickets for a thousand  sounds illegal to me. I wouldn't begrudge someone a fair profit but really.

It's supply and demand - basic economic principles.  Still sucks when you can't get a ticket to something you really want to attend.
