Here is what I use:

- Gillette Series shaving gel
- HeadBlade
- HeadLube lotion Matte

If I shave after showering or on some days if I am in a rush and shave w/out taking a shower I can't seem to get rid of the dry scalp/razor burn effect.  What I am referring to is not redness, but my skin looks dry, almost looks like dandruff, but it's not.  I use baby shampoo when taking a shower by the way.

I have tried several different lotions unsuccessfully.  What might I be doing wrong and how can I get rid of this to make scalp look better?  Thanks!

i read about the L'Oreal Comfort Max After Shave Balm and other lotions.  I like the matte look though.

Have you tried different shaving gels, creams or lotions?  I think the Gillette series as alcohol in it which could be drying out your skin.

I used to use Head Slick which helped a bit.

My advice would be to try different shaving creams.

Try some baby oil under your shave cream/gel. Now I know where the term "smooth as a baby's butt" comes from!

I have dry, sensitive skin, so I feel your pain.  Here's what works for me on my face, which is IMO more sensitive than the head.  For the head, I just use the oil and a Norleco electric.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Srub everyother day (EOD)--takes the dead skin off, rub gently!!
Shave Secret oil (follow directions on bottle)--moisturizes and soothes with peppermint and clove oils
Aveeno Soothing Shave gel (it foams like the Gillete stuff when you apply it)
Shave
Rinse with cold water
Aveeno Soothing Menthol Lotion

I have followed this routine with minor variations in product which usually resulted in the same result regardless.  Chicken bones and voodoo....

You might want to try Aveeno Positively Smooth shave gel.  It has a soy based ingredient, which helps reduce redness, and irritation.  I know that's not your issue, but it may help in the long run.  Also, try using some Aloe Vera gel after you shave.  That will help keep your head moisturized which may help with the dryness.  Good Luck!

I noticed that Walgreens stopped carrying HeadBlade products so it looks like I will have to order that online.  Can anyone recommend a good matte after shave lotion for my dome other than HeadLube matte?

Ditto, or Olive Oil, there is a whole thread about it.  Also, make sure that you aren't using your blade too long, as this can lead to more irritation.

I can see with the razor.  For some reason the schick extreme 3 is better for the side of my head then the head blade.  I might even use it for entire head.  The razor on the headblade isn't all it's hyped up to me I think.  just my opinion.
