My wife HATED the look when I first shaved. She never says a thing anymore. I still don't think she PREFERS it, but the look has grown on her. It was such a drastic change that I think it just took her some time to get used to it. I've been sly for more than a year now and would have a really tough time growing it back. Besides, the MPB is getting more and more pronounced. If you like it sly, keep it sly. The worst thing you can do is keep going back and forth. I learned that from experience. Make your decision and stick with it and I'll bet your wife will come along.

Baldy46, I think you are completely right. Make the decision and stay with it. I think each time you grow it out a little the critics start to nag. One particular woman in my office continues to question me in the most annoying manner as to "Why do you do that"? She is a little out of touch with current social norms and she is about to be told to frig off!

My wife never says anything, but she hated it when I did it almost 5 years ago. I think she just accepts that this is who I am and certainly doesn't want me to do the drugs, rugs, plugs, etc... alas, still no head rubs.

My wife loves it...she always has from day one....she was more pro-sly than me before I shaved.
I was basically "holding onto scraps" IMO and I will never go back to having hair.

my wife and the women at work prefer me clean-shaven. Added note here: I see a lot of guys in NYC (ages say 25-60) who now shave their heads and had major tranplanted work (at least 1,000 grafts I'd Say). If they can do it; we certainly can do it whether its hot or cold.

My Wife's reaction hasn't changed -
snuck in a head shave in there -
she's definitely not a fan at all - and there appears to be a consensus amongst the women if our office - buzzed without a guard good - shaved bad - I'm okay with the buzz - honestly it appears to matter more to them than to me
Funny moment - the new guy in our office showed up for his first day at work - he's taken the plunge and gone down to a no guard buzz - the one other guy in the office is now probably going for it - who would think the guy with the crew cut would be the long hair -
we'll be the bald guys office soon - funny outcome for all the ladies who have had strong opinions - they got me to grow a little stubble and two other guys going from average business man cuts to buzzed - I don't think that was quite where the ladies in my office thought this would go -

Good news my wife has come around, she's actually becoming a fan of bald.
What I thinked changed things for me:
a) passage of time;
b) showed respect, since I lived up to my word (Stupidly had told her that I wouldn't shave again unless she was in agreement) bald was not tied to unhealthy, you lie sentiments;
c) tanned head, much less of a hairline effect, so all you lurkers, buzz it down now to take advantage of the summer sun (with sunscreen);
d) fitness, I've been working out a lot - I don't know why bald seems to encourage working out but it sure has done that for me;
e) cleaner, my wife is a clean freak, she noticed no hair = no shed, just rinse out the sink well and its all good
f) attention - I think most women like it when other women pay attention to their men, and I have gotten a lot more attention; and
g) my own comfort with the whole damned thing - I showed up at a public event (kind of thing that gets the front page in your local paper) and was bald for all to see - no biggy for anyone - and easier - it was windy - everyone else had to try to make sure their hair didn't look too stupid in the photos that were being taken -

Hey guys, just joined the SBG last night. I took the plunge the a couple of days ago and can only ask myself why I didn't shave sooner. My wife comes home today from a trip visiting her family in indiana. She freeked the last time I got my head buzzed so I am really not sure how she will react to my shaving smooth. Hopefully she will get over it quickly....... Any advice on how to handle the wife?
