Howdy to all you cool sly folk!

First off, I have a confession to make.....despite my username, I am not yet sly!!! YET! I have been lurking here only today really but can see myself logging in a lot more, seems to be a lot of very cool guys in here! And although I have always considered shaving my head, I have never been so close to doing it after reading through these forums!

My story.....I am 25 years old from Ireland, living in Dublin. Started noticing my MPB from a young age but it has accelerated in the last year or so, hence my considering shaving! I am very reluctant and have all the fears most men will have (is my head the right shape, what will people say etc) but I think I am getting to the stage where its my decision or whatever mother nature dishes out...and truth me told mother nature and I havnt seen eye to eye on more than one occasion!

Basically my plan as it stands is to take my two weeks holidays in July (when I will probably take a holiday to Barcelona) and go sly before leaving. That way I get two weeks to adjust myself before introducing the new look to the work place and it will also give me a chance to tan the dome!

Would love to know your thoughs, looking forward to chatting with you folks!

Welcome Irish.  Why not go for it now?  This will let you get some sun before exposing the dome to the warmer climate of Spain.   I know I saw quite a few sly guys on my last trip to Ireland and that was not even in the bigger cities like Dublin, so fitting in should be no problem.

I know what you mean Paul and you are dead right, the sly look is an increasingly common look in Ireland so wouldnt be hard fitting in! To be honest it is probably just me stalling on the idea but determined to do it in four weeks time before taking off for Barca and taking photos in all the great Spanish landmarks with my new look! I'm single too so can only hope its a look the ladies like, but having read the forums that seems to be the case!

I do take your point though, I should probably just go for it but I think I've already prepared myself for the big shave in 4 weeks (Im a bit of a chicken!)

Do it when ever YOU are ready Irish.  But you most likely will be asking yourself WHY you didn't do it sooner.  And you're right about it being ok with the ladies.  I was sly two years ago when I was there and met plenty of ladies with no problem.

Welcome Irish.  Enjoy your holiday in Barca while enjoying your new Sly way of life.  Shaving my head of the dreaded unruly hair was like a lifetime holiday for me.  I'm sure it will be for you also.

You could shave your head now and we would all approve ;D.

But your plan to wait until you leave for Spain is also a fine one.  Just do it when you are ready.  You will not regret it. O0

Welcome to SBG Irish! Make sure you do this for you and for no one else! I bet if you keep reading posts here that you're timeline may change! I think the Spain trip could be a great time to try it.

A warning though, IF you do shave before the trip and plan on "getting a tan on the dome." Be vereeeeey careful. You're head burns much faster than other parts of your body.

Yes, this forum is loaded with very "cool" guys... when your SLY you are naturally cool with a no hair...no care" clean dome. The advice re: sunburn is good- I burned my noggin when first SLY here on Maui with its super intense sun. Have a SLY time, either pre-vaca or on...

Hi there IrishSly.

You are definitely in the right place! Good luck with the headshave, and enjoy your holiday. (Be very wary of that sun on your head though, it only takes a couple of minutes of sun exposure per day to build up a nice colour!)
