Proper brush/bowl techniqe
« on: May 29, 2009, 01:30:23 PM »
I  was just watching some videos over on You Tube and it got me wondering. When you shave with soap, do you load the brush and then use the mug? Or do you put the soap in the mug and go from there? Or how about just lathering the soap in your hand and then apply?

Signed: New to brush and soap, need help!

I have my soap in my mug, and add water before use, but I also hydrate my brush before building a lather.

The most economical way is to have the soap in a "dish"
wet the brush, stroke it back and forth a few times on the soap,
then later it up in the mug.

If you leave the soap "puck" in the mug you will use it up a lot faster,
plus it will get soggy like soap that sits in water,
unless you drain and rinse it each time.

Many moons ago this is what I did when I shaved my face.

I have used the brush with headslick.  I just put a dab of headslick directly on my head and then very slightly wet the brush.  It works really well.

SlyinKC,

That's what I do now only I do it in my palm. Headslick, two sprays of One Planet Shaving Oil and a few drops of water. It works up a great lather. As I can see already this is going to be one of those things that varies from individual to individual.

i use the art of shaving cream and wet my brush first, then put a bit of the cream on the brush and lather it on my head.

You need to try it with the brush.  It really helps the lather.

I keep my soap in a mug. I'll wet both the brush and mug. I'll 'work' the brush in the mug until it's covered with soap, THEN I will build a lather on my head. While lathering, I'll add water to my brush as needed to get a perfect lather.
