I've been thinking about shaving my head for about 6 months. It seems like things are thinning out a little in the front. I got a bad haircut last week, and yesterday decided to go for it. I went back to the barber and he trimmed it down to the length the sides were, and I came home and got rid of the rest with my own clippers. I found myself laughing a little maniacally with every pass of the clippers. I jumped in the shower, and was surprised how different the water felt on my head. I broke out a new Gillette sensor blade and lathered up and went to town. doing the back was hard, because I couldn't see what I was doing in there. I felt around and once I was satisfied (and the hot water was gone) I jumped out of the shower.
Everything feels different, the pillows, my CPAP machine (I use it to sleep...Obstructive Sleep Apnea) I had to jump in the shower to shave my face, cause it looked a little odd being smooth up top, and stubble on my cheeks. I went out, and felt the chill in the air on my head. I wanted to stay outside, drink coffee and read (and get a little sun) but it was too cold here in New Hampshire.
I think it looks good, aside from the roll of fat at the base of my head on the back of my neck. Im hoping as I lose weight, that will get smaller as I get in better shape.
That's the beginning of my story. I've never really posted on message boards, because I never think i have anything to say. But I wanted to introduce my self as I come out of my shell...aren't turtles bald too??

Hey Carver, thats awesome. Reading your story was bout like watching a kid in a candy store. Man I wish I could experience those days again, the "newness" of a first shaved noggin. Well I guess I could grow my hair out for a year.......................nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh LOL
Welcome to the sight bro and never worry about not ever having anything to say. There is always a subject in here to fit everyones need or interest.

Welcome Carver,
It'll take a while to master shaving the back of your noggin by touch. There's a lot of good advice to be found here.

Carver,
Welcome to the sly asylum! I would get a HeadBladek. I found that it has helped me to shave by touch. Also as for being overweight, I have found that bigger guys can pull of the sly look well. I should know, I am one myself. While you are at it, post us a pic of your sly dome!

Hey Carver,
Welcome, bro. I, too, am looking forward to a stretch of warm weather here in New England so I can give the dome a little exposure to the sun. BUT be careful about staying outside too long without some sunscreen on.
