Hey fellas, I just signed up and I gotta tell ya, this seems like a great community you guys set up here. Im 33, and i've been struggling with the fact that i've been loosing a lot of hair lately. I was actually online, reading about rogaine when I came upon this website. Reading about all you guys, and your positive attitudes made me forget all about rogaine, and decide to go sly. Ill see you boys around, Im gonna take a pic and post it as soon as i go sly

Wise move. It'll cost you nothing to try the sly life and in the (very unlikely) event you don't like it, you can always go the Rogaine route and pay through the nose for life.

Good choice, GunDog, giving SLY a try. Welcome, and post a pic -- before and after, just for kicks.

Welcome GunDog. I have 2 things to mention, one bad news and the other is good.
Bad news-------rogaine only lasts for some time. Afterwards the effects disappear and rogaine will actually cause you some hairloss of its own. So be careful with what you hear about it. Only propecia can "keep" your hair for long period of time but even that might lose its effects.
Good news-------head shaving helps men deal with hairloss and yet no side effects. Not only that, but as bootedbear mentionned, you can always go away from shaving. But I am sure you would agree the bald heads here look good. So, why not shave yours too?

Hey GunDog,
Good decision, man. Glad you came across the SBG site and that you are going to go sly. You will not regret it. Be sure to read some of the shave routines that the brothers have posted. Lots of shaving wisdom available here.
Keep us posted.

Gundog, congrats on making the right move to slyness!

I used Rogaine for about 10 years, and though it may not necessarily cause hair loss over time, it's affect lessens and you'll start losing anyway.
But, you will enjoy the sly look...and others will too!

Welcome, glad you found the economical and safe way to deal w/ mpb. Re: Rogaine, I started w/ the hole in the back of the head--and that's the area where it is most effective. Although I may not be a typical subject because of a history of problem skin--I support a dermatologist and have most of my life--I had a really bad reaction. I developed a bad crusty rash that took a lot of visits to John, the doctor, to clear up. The medication is not particularly effective according to the literature on the receding hairline.
On the contrary, shaving my head hasn't caused any skin issues! You're going to like what you get. Don't forget--or several of us will remind you--keep sly for thirty days and the probability is that you won't go back to thinning hair or any of the plugs, drugs or rugs that are advertised on all the media. And remember, when you're sly you can swim without any worry of washing off the medication or losing the rug, because it's your own hair
