I never heard of Alterbridge. The song really captures how it feels to lose someone so special. Great tribute to your uncle Stephen.

I never heard of them either but that is a wondeful tribute to your Uncle... O0

Years ago when I was in the Tactical force in the Sheriff's Dept, they had Johnny Paycheck at the county fair, I think it was around 1986.

Somehow I got elected to be his escort for the night, escorting him between his bus and the stage etc. The guy talked to me all the time and I had no problem with him at all, but he would totally ignore the fans and would not give anyone autographs or the time of day.

I never knew very much about the man, but I thought he was pretty arrogant also.

This is a little before the 80's, and in all honesty, i really dont like country. I can appreciate it and the talent thats in it, but its just not my thing. But Patsy Cline does it for me.

+1

I also agree with Mike that Country music is overproduced pop music now.

And although I'm not a country fan, I do enjoy blue grass... i know, i know same thing, right?  Blue grass has more of a raw feel, that i appreciate.

And back in my BM days...that would be "before marriage" I had more than one night as described in this song. Man this song would probably PISS off feminists now adays   O0

Loved Mickey Gilley. Remember "Gilley's Place" that was featured in that flick "Urban Cowboy" with John Travolta. Did you know that he and Jerry Lee Lewis are cousins.

Jimmy Swaggart is a cousin of theirs as well.

Yep..alot of people don't know that Jerry Lee Lewis was also an Assembly of God minister like first cousin Jimmy Swaggart. Hard to believe Swaggart, Jerry Lee Lewis and Mickey Gilley are all from the same lineage.
Our country demands all our strength, all our energies. To resist the powerful combination now forming against us will require every man at his place. If victorious we will have everything to hope for in the future. If defeated, nothing will be left for us to live for.

Actually, Jerry Lee went to the Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas. He was expelled in the third month of being enrolled. He never did become a AOG minister.

I knew he went to Southwestern and thought he was ordained at one point but I was mis-informed on that part.
