new guy- my second thread- before and after...
« on: November 19, 2008, 09:53:47 PM »
Not a true before and after head shave....thats why its in the "thinking about it section.  Because I have bangs and hair that's about 1.5 inches long I tried to slick my hair back in the shower today with shampoo to try to get more of idea what my head would look like shaved.  I know this is far from a headshave but it does show more forehead and I like the look.  That's a good thing, since showing more scalp is what shaving is all about.  I tried to attach a photo. Hope it works.

OK...pharmer...we are going to make this a class room..To EDUCATE YOU.  I understand your concept.  Thinking it will give you soem sort of feeling like you are shaved.  You know as well as I do that would not even come close to even beginning to experience teh Slick Noggin Syndrome.

It sorta goes hand in hand.  You have to be able to experience both at the same time.  Just keep it up ...keep reading and you will get over here.  Looks rather lonely over there......

I can tell you're wanting to go for it: you have a 'photo-shopped' pic of you bald, you slick your hair back in the shower.  So it's what you want to do.  You just need us behind you to encourage you - so just get a razor and shave it SLY 8)

Pharmer,
Are you balding in the back or crown?
I see the high bangs but its not that bad looking, although I am guessing you are getting a slight complex about it.
Here's the deal, other than having styling issues a man should not have a complex about if he is losing too much hair. If you are feeling this then by all means lets shave it clean, trust me there are not complexities about balding after.
You will look fine with a bald head, you seem to have a good shaped noggin there.
The decision is yours and we will support you with whatever you decide.  8)
By the way, welcome to SBG!

Pharmer,

The slick back won't do it man.  LOL  Nice try though.

The good news is hair grows back.  Try buzzing with no guard.  That's what I did.  Take a look in the mirror and jump in the shower and shave it.

You have really dark hair like mine, so you will have a shadow.  No worries!  Try it, you'll see.

Give it a try a little at a time.  Buzz it down with clippers.  Use a #1 at first if you're a little worried.  If you are comfortable with it go with no guard.

Before you know it you will be picking up that razor.

Like Kim said too, you have a good face for it anyway.  Don't worry.

Hey Pharmer,  You at least need to try buzzing it down close.  I promise you that there is nothing like experiencing it for yourself.  Just be brave, take the leap of faith, and give it a try. I promise that you'll love it.  And if not....it will grow back to what you have now.  And trust me, reactions will not be like the bad fears that you are probably having.

Best of luck,

Rick

I agree with Rick, Pharmer.
Here's what you do to get a better idea of how it'll look...
Find a good, traditional, no-nonsense barbershop. Not a "salon" or a chain supercut-type joint. Tell the barber you want to go really short...whether it's a #1 or #2 all over, a skin fade, high and tight, butch, crewcut, etc. Live with that a few days or a week or so and then you'll have a better idea of what lurks on the other side if you go all the way for a slick sly bald head! Pretty soon, you'll be combing your hair with a Mach 3 razor wondering what all the fuss was about. For lots of us, it was an instant confidence booster that's hard to explain. Trust the SBGs on this and give it a shot.
Good luck.
