He does look great, a bit badass too.

But I also think there may be some makeup involved, as is usual for movie roles.
I mean, look at his goat.
You know his hair is not lacking gray, and the color is too uniform.

It could be a bald cap.  They can do about anything in Hollywood.  If he did extended shooting for the film it would be easier to shave it then spend hours getting the bald cap and makeup right, so maybe he really did shave it.  Us mere mortals can only guess.
