I got a hair "system" when I was in my mid-twenties and was feeling pretty down about my advanced MPB. And actually, "won" a system from one of the first charlatan companies I ran into. That was the catch -- because they try to get people to be so dependent on them for everything, that giving one away would bring them tons of money down the road. Such a racket.

As I got more in the know, I ended up buying my own custom hair systems online for a very minimal charge and just had a local stylist cut them in, and cut my still growing hair every once in awhile.

And... if you know what you're doing... you can really customize a hair piece now to look very undetectable. The materials are much more advanced than when I first starting wearing. After putting it on well, I couldn't even see the edge myself. That said (and as I've discussed in other posts) -- wearing hair sucks. Constant upkeep, worrying about how it looked, the cost, the discomfort -- like always wearing a hat 24/7, being HOT in the summer, limiting activities, worrying if people knew (like sometimes people that you were talking to would do these quick glances up at your hair, and then back to you, in the midst of the conversation -- and you were never sure if they were just thinking "Hmm.. his hair looks different/nice/etc today" or "Hmm...his hair looks odd, wonder if he is wearing a toupee"

Anyway -- back to the original post. One of the things I actually have missed about wearing hair -- not the hair -- but rather my stylist. I went to her for haircuts and cut-ins for the past 7+ years and I miss seeing/talking to her, as we developed a good friendship after all these years. She actually doesn't even know yet that I've ditched the hair. Thought about scheduling an appt. for a haircut and then just go in and surprise her and instead, just going out for lunch or something. Anyone else miss their former haircutter? I think I'll post a new topic on that one.

OK -- sorry for the long ramble! I'm done.

I have to agree, I actually miss the girls from the place I went to! Have a couple on Facebook as friends!

I stop in and see my barber/stylist every few weeks so to catch up on news and such. During years of her cutting my hair we developed a strong friendship. I'm not willing to lose that just because I'm Sly.
