Yeah, Carlin was a rebellious genius for sure.
He was offensive to me on many fronts when he would do his bilious rants on religio-political stuff.
But he was still my favorite all time comedian. I just fast-forwarded through the offensive stuff, allowing him to spew his personal pet peaves.
When Seinfeld hit the scene in the '80's he carried the torch with the observational stuff and won my heart immediately.

Seldom do the deaths of "Celebrities" really have any impact upon my every day life - but the passing of George brought about a real and visceral sadness that lingered for quite awhile. He was a one of a kind man, who could throw your own hypocrisy in your face, and make you laugh while doing it. There will never be another even remotely like him.
