Saw Ben Harper last night
« on: November 15, 2007, 10:36:44 AM »
So my buddy was going to take a girl to this show but it didnt work out so he asked if I wanted to go. I am not really a huge Ben Harper fan, I have heard his tunes, hes good.. kinda bored of the singer songwriter thing but what the hell it should be a good time.

I was very impressed to say the least.

Amazing lap steel playing by this man.

He also has a voice that is so strong and powerful, he pulled his ear monitors, the band stopped, he ditched the mic and sang a capella with no amplification from the edge of the stage... this brought down the house.

After the show I can say I am a fan, great performer, great band and some of the best lyrics out there.

If you get a chance to see Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, go for it.

That's great that you got to see him Marz!  I haven't seen him live, but have had several friends who have.  He's on one of my customized stations on Slacker.com.

I agree Marz, he is one talented performer, I saw him open up for Pearl Jam a few years back, he was amazing. Great pedal steel player, and they really jammed, did some Hendrix which was awesome. I didn't want him to stop playing. Great artist with a very good band behind him too.   O0

Who the F*** is Ben Harper?????

Country???

Oh....no wonder....I'm very closed minded when it comes to that sh**

Although, when Tyler took me to the Railbenders, I did enjoy my country-bigot mind being opened......

Though it took a bunch of long island ice teas and Glenfiddich scotches

Ahh, Glenfiddich is nice, I have been a little more partial to Cragenmore these days.

Hey Rob, you ever listen to Old Crow Medicine Show? They are kinda old timey / bluegrass / country.

I like country but I like my country old and twangy like Hank Sr. or Bill Monroe

Ben Harper isn't country.  More of a beach type music.  Very So Cal.

I've never heard of him, either -- which means he's definitely not country.
