Things are looking up
« on: October 05, 2007, 08:36:12 PM »
Hey bro's, I finally got the call I've been waiting for: The TSA with the official job offer and acceptance!.     :)

I am very excited!, I go in for orientation on the 15th. I have some forms to fill out thru email for hr.  I can't wait to start working again, I've been doing the stay at home Dad thing, and it's been great, but I just want to get back to work, never thought I'd be saying that, but it's true.
I have to go through two weeks of classes and training and then I'll be on the job.   O0

Yes Shyslyguy and RazorX, The TSA or Transport Security Administration are responsible for protecting the transportation systems in the United States(rail, air, bus, etc). The TSA was formed directly in response to the Sept 11 terrorist attacks. There are 43,000 employees and they are under the jurisdiction of the Homeland Security Department. They are a valuable part of the safety of the nation and I'm sure Joe will make a fine officer. O0

They are also the ones who make you take your shoes off when you go through the airport to your departure gate.  >:D

Sorry guys, I was so excited over becoming an ultimate sly I forgot to explain what it was, j/k , lol.    ;D

Yes, as shysly and J have said, it is the Transportation Security Administration. I had actually applied while I was still back in N.Y. , and was waiting for an opening.
Soon after we got here (AZ), I was starting the job hunt while also deciding how to get my cdl (commercial driver license), which I went to training for back East in N.J. Went to the job fairs here and was looking while waiting for the notification to take the test. I finally got the test invite, did well and was called in for the screening and interview.
When I say they go up the wazoo, I mean it. You have to go back pretty far in your personal and employment history for all of your past. I went through the interview process and came through fine.
Lastly, I would need to get a full medical exam and I should be called after the results come in. It was about a two week period of waiting and wondering, but I got that call.
Now comes the orientations and classes, but I am psyched to get started. It means alot to me being able to help our nation, especially after living and working in NY, and being so close to the destruction and chaos of a day we can never forget.

Thanks for the well wishes, guys.   O0

Lol shy, believe me, I wouldn't have minded staying home a bit longer, it's been pretty nice after twenty five years of working, but as many of you know, our better halves just won't let that happen!, lol     ;D
