In my Sr. year in high school (and summer after freshmen year in college), I worked in a pizza restaurant. I would actually make the pizzas, including working the oven. The burns on the forearms stopped me from returning after my sophomore year (they're finally starting to go away). Some of the stuff I liked on pizzas included linguica, white onions, mushrooms. Plus, thick crust is the only way to enjoy pizza (sorry you NYers, thin crust sucks).

We have a local place called Cool River Pizza. Reminds me a lot of what we made at that restaurant I worked at. There are two in our city. It's great pizza and the owners are very active in the community (coupons to students with good grades, attendance, etc.). Plus, the prices are reasonable, and they have great beers on tap.

We probably go there a couple of times a month.

Miss working at Mario's pizza...my last job prior to joining the Navy...

If anyone makes a good double decker with pineapple, Canadian bacon, onions, hot peppers, and garlic...I'm all over it!

I've lost track of how many pizza joints my son has worked at from high school through college. He has made them, served them and delivered them. He got a job delivering pizza in Toledo when he was in college there. Second day on the job he got robbed at gun point. He said he would never deliver again. Well, he is at Kent State now, making pizza and delivering them as well. He says it's a safer town. Actually, it's the good tips he gets. The drunks tip him really well.

As far as national chains go, Papa Johns is the best in my opinion. They include a little container of garlic butter sauce for dipping and a few pickled hot peppers with every pie!

My favorite local joint in my hometown is called Myles Pizza pub. Great Chicago style thick crust pies that are piled about 1/2 inch thick with cheese.

I agree with Joe. Nowhere on earth have I been to that has a good a pizza as NYC. Even the smallest hole in the wall pizzeria serves a slice that God himself must've had a hand in making.I remember going to a few on upper east side Manhattan and every night for 10 days I'd go to this little pizzeria and get 2 pepperoni&mushroom slices with a bottle of Peach Snapple for 6bucks.

Heaven!

Think you would get quite an argument from the Chicago contingent on that one JDog.  :Xo! Hell, New Yorkers don't even know how to cut a pizza properly.  It needs to be cut in squares not giant slices.  :(    Guess it all depends on what you are used to

Hey Paul, Make no mistake I love Chicago style pizzas too!! I have eaten at a few Chicago pizza shops.

My favorite being Gino's East of Chicago on North Wells O0

Okay, I take it back...Chicago AND NYC both have equally unreal pies. :)

I am not a fan of chains. I will eat at Pizza Hut however it's rare I think there are only 2 in nova scotia. We have a chain and I think it's only in eastren canada called Greco, I call it GreaseCO cause man that pizza is greasy.

I personally prefer small local joints. The town i am currently living in has a pizza Joint Called "Sam's" they have a greek based pizza, the sauce is a brownish colour, and has a spice to it, it's great best pizza i've ever had. If you ever find yoursend in New Glasgow you have to try this pizza.

My home town has 2 places Called Jake's and Jake's and Son's  any way they havea classic canadian pizza it has ground beef, canadian bacon, mushrooms, peperoni and basically this pizza has a sweet paste rubbed onto the dough before they put on the regular pizza sauce and toppings, the's a nice pie.

There are a couple of local places that have great pizza. One is Dion's, hand-tossed in front of you and they started out in one little store. Now they have a few throughout town and around Albuquerque too.  Another great place and they only have on location, is Pizza Castle. My mouth is watering just thinking about those two!
