Advice on getting whole head slick

Any advice on getting the back of your head slick? I realize I just started to shave, but wondered if you guys had any pointers.

i.e. how do you have a very smooth shave on the back of your head, where you can't see yourself?

Start out WTG, top to bottom. Then re lather and shave ATG bottom to top. As you go, feel with your free hand to monitor spots that you missed.  Not too fast, it's not a race.

Actually I do my entire head by feel. Shave in the shower without a mirror. Just feel the areas where I missed.  Occasionally it feels smooth in the shower, but by the time I'm at the sink to apply the head lube glossy, I find a spot or two that I misssed. Get out the razor again and touch up.

Sounds so simple! I'm sure it gets easier each time. Is that head lube good stuff?

Head lube comes in two styles, Glossy and Matte.  I have tried both out of curiosity. They are similar.  The glossy is designed to have a shiny finish when applied. It does. The matte is supposed to give a dull finish. I did not think that it was that much difference. I'll say it this way, the matte is less shiny than the glossy, but I did not think that it was really 'not shiny'. Perhaps some baby powder after the head lube would fix that?

I like the head lube, but there are other after shave creams that are also good and acceptable. Think of it as hand cream for your head. I do find that when applying head lube or another cream that you find the spots you missed very quickly. You may not feel them prior to the cream, but you do when you apply. if you want really smooth head, I go back and touch up the spots. The cream seems to function like your shave soap, however, it does clog your razor faster. Be sure to rinse out your razor with HOT water if you touch up this way.

Gotcha. Sounds good. May need to pick some of that up. Do you use headblade to shave with?

I agree, headshaving is pretty much by feel. I shave immediately after a shower in front of a mirror with a double edge safety razor and Astra blades. I also use shave soap and a brush, constantly 're-applying soap. I use short strokes and feel as I go with the other hand. Love the baby butt smooth head.
Bald by choice, and loving it!
