I have a receding hair line. When is it time to shave it all off?

Hi guys,
I'm sure you guys get this question a lot, but just wanted your opinion on my specific situation. I have been balding for the last 6 years now. I have adapted to my ever changing hairline by cutting my hair shorter and shorter. I am now at about a 1/4'' buzz. Just wondering when I should take the plunge and start shaving it completely? What is that tipping point you reach when it just looks better to shave it off than try to hold on to the hair you've got left? I have attached some pictures of my hairline. Let me know your thoughts. I would be very appreciative.

I've just made the decision to take mine off. I decided to do it because I was tired of worrying about how others looked at my thinning hair. A bald head will suit your head and face.

Welcome to the board, sir.
My personal opinion is that the right time is whenever you are ready and want to shave it. Your hairloss looks to be at the stage when some guys decide to take it off rather than watching the rest fall out. Others, like myself, waited until we had just the horseshoe left.
Do what you want and what will make you the happiest. I can promise you, though, that if you have the itch to shave, it will not go away until you do it.
Glad you joined us here.

Whenever you want to shave off, whenever you don't want to worry about it more, it's the timing.

Doesn't hurt to try... You can always grow it back if you don't like it.

It is different for each person, but I will tell you my story. I have vowed to myself long before MPB started that I would rather shave than have a semi bald head. I realize that is easy to say when you still have a full head of hair. But when my thinning first started and was not really noticeable to anyone but myself, I shaved. That was about 4 to 5 years ago. Since then I have let my hair grow for a few weeks just too see how much the MPB had progressed and I can tell you it is now advanced. So at the beginning I considered myself bald by choice, but now by nature. I never really had to deal with a thinning hair style.

I think it may be the time to try a shave, if you're ready.

Like the others have said; the time is when you decide that it is time. But, I don't think you would be asking the question if you weren't already at the point where you feel that it is time.
If I were you though, I wouldn't waste another minute of my life worrying about it. Just do it, and be free!

if you did shave it and decided it was horrific, it wouldnt take more than a couple weeks to be right back where you are.
Personally, my balding was much more advanced when I started shaving, do I regret waiting so long? Not at all. I'm happily bald now. There is the 30 day rule to help you get used to a shaved head, what have you got to lose?

I always wanted very short hair even when i was not losing it. Kept it buzzed close. When head shaving became a bit more common I shave it and have not regreted it. Just do it.

Do whatever you think best and feel comfortable with - - -I would shave using No. 1 first and see how you like it - - -then shave it down completely.
Nothing like a wonderful - - completely shaved head - - -I love it.

Hey guys,
Thanks so much for all the advice. I really appreciate it. I guess your right Sir Harry, if I don't like it, I can always let it grow back. Hope I have a nice scalp! Well I guess I need to decide what is the best razor for shaving my own head.
