The secret Sly brotherhood
« on: October 11, 2013, 09:27:05 PM »
As I have stated before, I am a hotel concierge that is BBC and has a goatee and soon to have a handlebar mustache. Today I check in a Sly guy that is sporting a full beard. As my associate is checking him in, he makes the comment "I love your barber". I look up and say "I like yours too". We talked about razors and methods for about 5 minutes, and then I went on to tell him about this website.  I find this awesome, and this is the first time I actually had a sly guy come up and talk about being sly. It is like I have joined a secret society that can hide in plain site. "the brotherhood of the sly".

That would be pretty cool. They actually kind of already mentioned somethinh similar on Family Guy where Stewie says, "Just like that secret bond that all bald guys have". So they show a scene where there's two bald guys in an elevator along with a non-sly. And once he steps out. The two sly ones lick each others head like some sort of secret salute.
I guess that's a little extremist though haha

To be honest it wouldn't surprise me if some guys here wanted to do that, assome can border on slightly cult-ish here at times.

I think I may have encountered a comment once in all the years I've been shaving. There's another bald guy in the office and neither of us have passed comment. It wouldn't seem appropriate.

I don't really see myself as part of a brotherhood as being bald is just one of the many things that 'defines' me. I have many traits, many views and many interests so I'm probably not going to feel closer to someone that's bald .

Seems like when I see another Sly out there, we always acknowledge each other, whether it is a self rub or a simple nod. When one of my buddies went smooth for the first time, he mentioned how it seemed like he was suddenly part of a secret society based on the way he got treated. I get discounts and better service when I go somewhere that is managed by a fellow bald guy. When I used to work retail, I had bald guys ignore shorter lines just so they could communicate with another bald guy. I admit, I do the same thing though, if I am at a store, I'd much rather deal with a Sly guy than some spiked haired/comb over guy.
Welcome to the secret world of Sly...

I want to move where you live. I have noticed other bald guys greeting me and they like to chit-chat about things, but no one has ever offered to save me any money.  :-\

Really? Even when I was on vacation in California, I got discounts when I went to some places. When I used to go out and drink, I could always get free drinks with no issues because the ladies loved the dome and the 1 comb over bartender I dealt with had Sly respect. Come to think of it, in my 2 years of going out drinking every weekend, I only had to pay for drinks once. Now I don't drink as much but still get upgrades at the coffee stand and such

I went into my local cell phone store earlier today.  The Sly manager came over to take my name, but first said, "Now I know who's been getting all my hair appointments."     ;D

Geez, all I have done is explain a headblade to a guy in the shaving gear aisle of the grocery store.

Stewie says, "Just like that secret bond that all bald guys have".

Ah yes. This scene.

I'm telling you.  We all need to move to the west coast.  Apparently, it is where the sly cosa nostra have the biggest influence.  :D
