shave brushes

• So I have an inexpensive Shave/lather brush from Walmart or the like. (Under $10). What's the difference between this and the expensive brushes? What am I missing if anything?
  
  I lather up with head slick and shave secret mix.  Brush seems to work OK.

• dif brushes are wider or firmer. it's all pretty much personal pref though silver tip grade badger brushes are considered best by many

• More expensive brushes are typically made from higher grades of badger and or boar hair.
  
  I think there is a pretty big difference between a no-name brush and even an entry level brush from a reputable manufacturer.
  
  I think that knots from The Golden Nib are excellent for the price. Also a Omega 48/49 are bread for the head because they are HUGE and also quite cheap!

• Thanks for the tips. I have been using a cheap shaving brush from Walmart also. I would like to invest in a better brush. I really like using a brush when applying shaving lather. It works much better than not using a bruch.

• I have a cheap brush too and the hairs are always coming out. I feel like it makes me skip over spots. The better brushes are so much more expensive though. Can someone recommend one for around 20 bucks?!

• I've heard a lot of positive comments about these synthetic brushes.  Synthetics have improved a huge amount over the last couple of years.
  Keeps selling out quickly so I haven't managed to get myself one yet.
