hey guys, so I posted before about getting a buzz cut but I just can't seem to work up enough nerve to do it. I bought some hair clippers, had everything ready to go, standing shirtless staring at myself in the bathroom mirror and just couldn't do it. What should I do?

Sorry I don't really understand your post. You're making it sound like you are about to perform open heart surgery on yourself. I checked your previous picture and you have a full head of hair, which means if you don't like it shaved it will grow back in a few weeks (A luxuary a lot of posters worried about doing this don't have)
You either want a buzz cut or you don't, simples. If you don't, there's no hardship and it's just hair, something you seem to have plenty of.
Without wanting to appear rude, it's quite a dramatic post about nothing!

Shave to a grade 4 and within a few weeks it will be grown out if you hate it as you have hair. Or go to a barbers and ask them to do it. That way they can cut the sides shorter and give it a military look and it will be a better overall haircut.
Like I say if you were suffering hairloss I would see it as a big step. You are not so this is just a haircut.

Well, lets try this approach.
1. Have a barber do it. If you don't like it, you can blame him! Hair grows back. One barber trimmed my beard WAY short. Nobody liked it. Blame the barber. It grew back.
2. Do it with a friend. Both get a buzz. Agree together you are both going to do a #1 or a no guard.
3. It's not the end of the world. I felt some trepidation the day i first shaved my head. But i love it. Haven't stopped since.
4. Encouragement for me is all the stories here on sbg of the guys why all sat they wish they had done it sooner! I don't hear many stories of 'I should not have done it.'

Mrzed, we do see a lot of members disappear from the site and not post again so maybe not everyone keeps it.
I think being sly does create a lot of confidence to those suffering MPB but others that are BBC like it but they have the luxuary of growing their hair back when they no longer want it.

I think number 1 or 2 will be the best option for me. With the barber, once I tell him what to do I cant back out. and with number 2, id think it would be great to do it with a friend but I dont think I have any who'd be up for it.

I was a little hesitant to do it at first, too. But then I just decided "what the f**k! If I don't like it, it'll grow back in a few weeks." So I did it and never looked back. I did have a (sly) friend give me my first shave, though. Same principle as going to a barber: once you're in the chair, there's no getting out of it. Good luck!

Changing your appearance can always be hard even if it's just a something as simple as a haircut. However sometimes it's like a bug in your system -- you keep thinking about it and thinking about it. sometimes you just can't get it out of your mind until you act on it. so I say experience life, find a good barber and get a basic crewcut and take it from there. a good haircut from a barber will allow you to appreciate the look even more. with a crewcut you'll have the temptation to go shorter and shorter. Mostly because they grow out so quick and you get curios about "what will it look like shorter!?" eventually, it will be short enough and you may be tempted to shave. Or if you are curious about a bald look, ask the barber for a high and tight with a #2 top. That's a classic military cut but still perfect for a civilian. It will leave the sides and back skinned. This cut is also called a high bald fade.
Good luck and just go for it.
