Cookies & cream smoothie recipe
« on: May 31, 2007, 07:07:49 PM »
This is one of my new faves:

Combine the following in a blender:

1/2 cup cooked oatmeal

2 tablespoons of nonfat vanilla yogurt

1 cup of lowfat (1%) milk

2 scoops of Muscle Milk Light - cookies & cream flavor

3 tablespoons of Splenda

Blend until smooth and then fold in as much crushed ice as you like for volume.  Blend until no more chunks of ice are present.

Enjoy. :)

Sounds great except for the oatmeal part. ...what is the purpose of that addition?

It thickens the mixture up and gives it a better texture, as well as helping you feel fuller.  It's better than it sounds, trust me.  Once it's blended through, you don't even realize that it's there.

Sounds good RazorX, I'll have to try it out.  I love the oatmeal in my smoothies.

So do I.  I've been trying to limit the oatmeal to 2-3 times a week because I'm watching my carb intake.  The rest of the time I make fruit smoothies, which don't really need the oatmeal.  I would love a cookies & cream tonight, but I had one last night, so tonight will be an oatmeal-free, mixed berries with yogurt and milk smoothie.

No, sorry.  Actual cookies (along with a lot of other things) are not on my menu these days.

Razor, this sounds like a tasty treat.

1 question, How does one "fold" ice into the blender? :/O

Muscle Milk is a supplement drink that looks like milk and helps you build protein and burn fat.  You can learn more about it here: http://www.cytosport.com/ProductGroup.aspx?ProductGroupID=1

Razor X,

Will try this "smoothie" tomorrow.
But I'm replacing the "toxic" Splenda w. something more natural like honey.
Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Cheers, Ben

I don't know if it's available in Australia or not but most places that sell health foods or sports nutrition products should have something similiar.  It's mostly whey protein, if that helps.
